A permanent Fix for the 335i/435i 2500 RPM Rattle/Buzzing/Whirring Noise?
Hi to all, especially "Tjcf14", without who's detailed information on this thread would still have me an irritated F32 owner! I tend to spend most of my time on "bimmerpost" on the UK threads for the 4 series forum which is where I posted a question about a buzzing/vibration on my 435i M Sport which I took delivery of in November 2013 ( it's an October 2013 build, UK spec car ), so this issue clearly affects some of our early build cars too! I have had the additional balance weight fitted to my car by my dealer here in the UK as a consequence of bringing to their attention the information in this post, of which they were completely unaware ( seems the SIB is a BMW North America one only and my dealer can find no reference to a similar SIB for the UK or indeed Europe on this fault!! ). Anyway the really good news is the identical fault I had on my car has now been rectified by this fix and has not re-appeared in over 150 miles of city/urban driving where the car has been in the critical rev range on numerous occasions whilst changing up and down the auto box. I am very optimistic that this will prove to be a permanent solution and would like to say a huge thank you to you guys, especially Tjcf14 for pointing me in the right direction.......I am now a much happier bunny than I was a week ago, I can tell you!!!! I spent a considerable amount of 'hard-earned' on this car to replace my much loved 335i coupe I had owned for the previous 6 years from new and really didn't want anything to take the shine off this new replacement especially as I have quite extensively specced it with a view to keeping this one for probably just as long as I kept the last one! Once again thank you all for your extremely useful information it has been very much appreciated! |

I take my car in tomorrow for the fix so I'll let you guys know as soon as I have it back. So happy about this fix. My rattle was so damn annoying today again.
EDIT: Got my car back and rattle is GONE! YAY! Last edited by ft1330; 03-12-2014 at 04:56 PM.. |

Hey folks, just got done reading through the 4 pages on this rattle. I have a 4/13 Munich build 335i Msport. Would anyone know if BMW would install the weight even if this rattle isn't present in my car? More of a preventative measure than a solution in my case. Also, I've checked the BMWUSA site under "recalls" and there are none for my car, how would I go about even requesting this service? I'm on the East coast...should I just walk in with the SIB# and demand it be installed?

Okay, I've been following this thread trying to figure out if this is the same "buzzing" noise I have coming from my dash when under torque. It is definitely a buzz and it sounds like it is coming from the HUD, like maybe the glass is loose and vibrating. But maybe it isn't what I think and maybe it is actually what you all are experiencing. Can anyone tell me if the sound they experienced sounded like it was coming from the top of the dash directly ahead of the driver? It's driving me nuts! Under light acceleration, it buzzes. As soon as I let off the gas, it stops.

Anyone else hear a electrical buzzing sound coming from the dash whenever the car is on? I've tried turning off music and air con, and it's always there until I switch the engine off. It's low frequency, not everyone can hear it, but I can definitely pick it up when driving without music on.

Try these part numbers...... Additional weight 64 53 9 322 952 Hose clamp 07 12 9 952 119 .....I think these are the numbers my dealer in the UK used to order my parts. Now done well over 500miles since the weight was fitted and today the car had 'a bit of a work out!' on the roads in the Scottish Borders close to where I live in North East England and the noise has never been heard at all! I'm a really happy bunny now and can't thank the guys on this post enough as the noise was really starting to drive me nuts!! |
