As previously mentioned the E90 LCI has on been out for two model years, judging from the past that leaves two more model years before the introduction of the F30.
There was no AUDI then.

7 series and 3 series by volumes are very different. Companies like BMW would adapt to the competition, even if it means breaking the cycle, at least that is what we would expect. As we know, European market is different. BMW is slowly giving way to AUDI, earlier launch the better.

Sales drop was expected. This is called "life cycle trend."

Sales are always at the lowest toward the end of the life cycle, and this does not warrant a change in business model.

F30 will be out in 2012, BMW will stick with its course of 7 yr cycle. I guess most of you guys are just getting tired of your E90 / 92?

I agree. I also agree with the timing of the release. BMW is launching the new X1 and X3 in the states in 2011, I don't think there would be 3 total model revamps in 1 year.

I really find the current sedan better looking than the A4...the interior may look a bit outdated, but no major problem if you ask me.

Question is, do you really want the first iteration of the next 3-series ? When I saw the first e90, I didn't like it and thought the e46 looked better. From the spy pictures I really don't like the overall shape of the car. If it looks like the new 5-series GT (front) or even like the new 5-series, I may skip until the facelift.

I am sure the engines will have lower fuel consumption, but if a twin-turbo inline-6 with 350 hp will not be present, I will have no reason to switch.

So far, the new BMW Z4 was the only car that I really loved right from the launch. I just doubt they can pull it off again with the new 3-series. We will see...

This will be debated until BMW officially announced it.

But so far I have to go by Roundel magazine info saying F30 will be released 1 year earlier due to poor sales. If you want to dispute that better quote something more credible than BMW CCA official magazine.

BTW, the life-cycle according to wiki on 3-series BMW is not exactly always 7 years from the time of E21 until E90.

I will at least have to wait until the m-sport package comes out ... havent been a fan of the regular body kit in the last 10yrs, just plain boring or too conservative for me

And he did confuse F30 with the F10. Those are coming out this may, from what I hear from local dealer here, when I went to take a test drive.

Good points all around. I hated the old 5 series and absolutely love the new one. BMW hasn't gone wrong too often so I'm confident they'll come up with a winner.

Just personal taste, but I see it the exact opposite. I love the e60 and so far the f10 is not growing on me...the long overhangs on the f10 bother me for some reason. I'm really hoping the f30 is closer to e90 than f10. If not, I'll probably be driving a 1er or p-car for my next car.

I'm with Massbimmer on the 5, I absolutely loved the E39 design, not a fan of the E60, but the F10 is definitely a good looking vehicle.
