So dumb I can't believe people buy this. Does it look good? Yeah but they charge you more and what you basically get is a 3 series with less headroom. Nice

Right. One could purchase a 5 series and have all the same options of a 6 series GC for less. Hmmm ... |

So another sedan version of the coupe version of a sedan. Bravo, BMW...

I can understand and love the 6 Gran coupe idea, but this is pointless. BMW should have simply put it 3 series=coupe and 4 series=sedan. This is getting ridiculous.

Like most people on this thread I'm a bit puzzled by the 4 series Gran Coupe.... The 4 series is so much like a 3 series at this point in time that that a 4 series Gran Coupe is the same as the 3 for all intents and purposes. Minus a seat. There's hardly any styling differences or anything else of note.
On the other hand the 6 series look different enough from the 5 to warrant a 6 series Gran Coupe. It's a sportier looking sedan in the same class as the 5 and so it makes (some) sense (the price difference is unjustified though). Maybe when the next generation of 4s are made and the 4 looks different enough from the 3, this'd be a reasonable idea. We'll see. Oh and then there's the hideous GT models (3 series in this case)....

I don't know man, I think they both look downright sexy. I'm digging this Gran Coupe design language. I say they drop the f30 sedan and call the f36 Gran Coupe the new 3 series. Everyone's happy. . |

I like it more than 3er. I will definitely buy it when I'll be in need of a new sedan in a couple of years (considering the price is decent).
However, I think BMW would do much better by just having this car as 3er, and the 4er would be the coupe. But they don't listen to me (no cry there) so they will end up with confused people and/or impressions. 4er GC will become the sedan of choice for masses and 3er will become the cheap version of it (i.e. the cheap sedan choice for masses). I think what will happen in the next generation, BMW will design the 4 series with its own look (not based on 3er design) which will make it clear for the masses |

If BMW wanted to follow Audi's lead and make an A5 Sportback competitor, that's fine. But why call this a 4-series Gran Coupe and not a 4-series Gran Turismo? This has far more in common with the 3GT and 5GT (hatch back, slightly taller and heavier than the base car) than it does with the 6-series Gran Coupe.
A true 4-series Gran Coupe would have had a standard trunk, like the 6GC. BMW's naming convention wasn't exactly straightforward to begin with, and this is only making it more convoluted. Will the forthcoming 2-series Gran Coupe have a hatch and be a little more bloated than its base car, or will it have a standard trunk and look like a sleek sedan? Who knows. Not good to be so arbitrary, BMW. |

Call me crazy but that Audi looks much better. The 4 is trying to hard, kinda like a wigger at an Up In Smoke concert.
