$130 is way fair for the labor... Love my challenge but kind of wish I went catless!

Don't say that! If/when I pull the trigger after my next oil change I'm leaning toward the HFC...

Really don't want the smell that comes with the cat less. And if it's only 5whp or so difference I think I can live with that.

Most of the gain comes from the ability to use Map 2 obviously. I'd like to see map 2 dynos with catless and with HFC.

same here i think its like driving an old truck with Catless downpipes or maybe i don't want to bother people with the smell.

Yea the smell is minimal with the hfc but I'm never really satisfied. I kind of feel like I should've just went all the way with catless..... But if I got catless originally, I'd probably want the hfc lol.

Challenge

I'm getting the same catless DP and Challenge sport exhaust. I'm actually driving to Challenge's shop the have it installed there since it's close to my house. I'm also doing a JB4 stage 2 and whatever map I'd use for the 50/50 E85/93. Can't wait for the car to get here!

Two questions....

1) Don't you guys with catless downpipes fail emissions tests? In Ohio, we have to run an echeck every two years in order to renew our license.

2) Being super new to this....is there ANY added risk to the turbo or engine itself running a different downpipe? Even if only long term....I thought about doing it when I run out of warranty....but don't want to shorten the life of any of my engine components...

It will fail a true emissions test, that's what the cats are for in the first place. Not sure what an echeck is and in some states you could probably pass, but if they're actually putting a sniffer in the tail pipe it wont pass. If they're just reading ready codes you could get lucky, but there is no real solution for the F30 that I know of to fake it consistently.

As far as I know, and I've done extensive research but have no real experience myself... The downpipe will cause no added risk to the turbos, in fact there is evidence that as it increases flow it helps the turbos.

Now you'll probably want to turn up the boost because it's safer with out that restrictive catted version from the factory and that's where things get hazy. That said there are quite a number of people that have been running these tuned for 10s of thousands of miles without issue, and on the N54s there are those that havent had issues for 50k+ miles. So read into that what you will. Your mileage may vary.

Have you tried E85 yet?

How much power is a "FBO" GTO putting down? FBO can mean so many different things to different people.

No I haven't. I've been too lazy and haven't ordered the flex fuel wire and I don't really want to try it without that.... As for the gto, they are rated at 400 stock but they're a bit heavy so I'm not sure exactly what this guy had. I just know it was modded. Probably shouldn't have said fbo.
