New f30, Crayonish smell when A/C comes on?

Hey guys, new member to the club here! Really excited about everything so far but wanted to find out further about something I've noticed.

I only have 400 km's clocked in but sometimes when I turn on the A/C (cool) there's a faint plastic/crayon scent (wish I could describe it better) that lasts for about 30 seconds then goes away. Is this normal?

It's almost similar to the "new car scent" but slightly different.

Mine does the same thing and my E90 did it too. No idea what it is but I know exactly what you are talking about!

It is part of the BMW new car smell... If it really bothers you they make air freshener inserts, that will cover it up. I'm sure it's a combination of low VOC paint and the cosmoline that they apply at the factory.

Hmm, interesting. This was a common thing with the E46/E36 chassis. I believe they were able to attribute the "crayon-like" smell to the adhesives used in the interior. Not sure if this also applies to the newer gens

I've noticed that smell since my first BMW and came to love it, Im pretty sure it has to do with how the leather or vinyl of dash is treated...
