Should M Perf Grilles be PLASTIC?

I just ordered a pair of Gloss black M perf grills fom a BMW dealership off ebay. I had in mind it will come in a heavy box bc its aluminum but the box felt empty haha. I was shocked to find out that the grills are made of plastic. Is this how M perf are REALLY MADE or did I just buy a knock off?

Nope that's what they are made of. I'm sure they will tell you it's about weight but we all know plastic is cheaper. They still look really good and I'm pretty happy with mine.

Is the original M sport Grilles plastic too?

I bought it from a BMW dealership off ebay with BMW receipts so its legit....
