Car won't detect 2015-2 NEXT maps
Hi!
My car currently has 2013-2 NEXT Europe maps installed. I've downloaded the 2015-2 from the thread here : http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1007509. However, I cannot get my car to detect the maps when I plug my USB device into the arm-rest USB port. My stick is a 32GB USB2 stick (I hear that USB3 can sometimes be problematic), I have tried several sticks, and even a old USB HDD (which I have used to previously update another car with older maps). I even tried re-downloading the maps, and reformatting my USB stick as FAT32 a different machine. No luck Are the 2015-2 maps bad, or am I missing something obvious? Thanks! |

can you make a screenshot of the root ( usb stick )
some usb sticks the BMW does not regonize it, so try a different brand also. other possibility is that your usb is in the glove compartment. |

I'll grab a shot of the USB stick root when I get home. I have tried several USB sticks so I don't *think* that's the problem, however I can always stop by a supermarket on the way home and grab another stick just to make sure

So this is what I have on my USB stick : http://postimg.org/image/coekgj4lb/ which seems to tally with yours. I can't see another USB port in the glove compartment, so maybe I need to try a USB 2 stick from a different brand? Any recommended?

I'm using a mac but I formatted the USB using a Windows device (because I was worried it would be formatted for Mac OS if used that).

I wrote a guide about upgrading the NEXT maps: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1098074
I'm also using a OS X so it's not a problem, just use disk utility to format to FAT. and make sure you have the extracted the maps into the root of the USB stick. I've personally not had any issues with any type of USB sticks. |

Okay, major facepalm now! So I re-setup my USB stick and this time I "cleaned" the USB stick using an app called Blue Harvest which removes all the Mac specific files (.ds_store etc). Plugged my USB stick in *boom* prompted for my FSC code
Thanks all for the help, and hopefully somebody in the future will find this thread and save themselves the hassle I went though! |
