Very loud clunk and shudder over speed humps

Hi there,
Has anyone one experienced a very loud clunk as your car drops down the far side of a speed hump... accompanied by a horrendous shudder?
Its almost like the shocks are stuck and release suddenly.
And to put this in perspective it's not from going to fast, it can happen on small speed bumps at 3 or 4 km/h sometimes.
I even startled a pedestrian in a Bunnings carpark the other day with the noise.
I have mentioned it three times at different service appointments but they have never acknowledged the issue.
Also should mention that not every speed bump will do it, needs to be a particular size/rise/fall, generally a completely smooth sided speed bump will do it.

In my much over-thought decision over active vs passive m-sport suspension I read quite a bit about noise in adaptive.

There are some threads elsewhere on this board where people have had similar problems and had them fixed. This was in the US so probably a big argument here...

I have never mentioned it, did a lot of research when I first noticed it and found it seemed to be a NCO so it didn't worry about it.

It seems to be very much speed dependent so I just make sure I don't go over speed bumps too quickly, besides I'll only have the car for three years, and given my experience with BMW, I can't be shagged!

Mine used to rattle somewhat like this, no adaptive tho... It would also do it sometimes when on uneven roads at more of a pace. Was incredibly intermittent. After many back and forths to the dealer, two new shocks, suspension checks they then eventually changed the steering rack - perfect.

Sounds very similar to my steering rack issue when I took delivery way back in 2012... Was fixed with a new rack and column however I would of thought this would of been completely sorted by now

Check out my old post I think it was titled steering rack issue poll

Good luck

Haven't noticed this issue. I have adaptive suspension and VSS.
Because I have a front splitter, I tend to treat speed humps with a great deal of respect.

I have the "joy" of driving over a speed hump in/out of my community daily. I take it at 15 - 20 mph. No issues other than an increase in blood pressure. Also no noise issues with the other four BMWs over the past 13 years other than alignment issues I attribute to that flipping hump.

Any update? Mine was built on September 2014 (F30 320d) , After 3000 km starting to have "cluck" noise over speed bump, I drove to dealer have checked the noise was coming from steering rack,They told me there is no solution for this so I send an E mail to BMW HQ they told me there is a update part number for the rack which is improvement ,but not any mention about the noise, now I am waiting a part from Germany, Anyone actually solved this problem? Somebody said the noise disappear after change the tire from RFT to normal tyre because of softer sidewall will absorb the force Anyone?

Mine disappeared after the steering rack replacement.

When ignition is on (but engine off) if you rock your steering wheel a little it does it rattle slightly too?

I don't particularly notice any 'clunk' going over speed humps on mine, September 2014 build, with adaptive suspensions as well. Just under 5000kms on the odo....

I experienced this a few days ago, no shudder just the clunk. I took a traffic calming bump a little faster than normal. I have a Gran Coupe 2015 428 with M Sport Adaptive suspension and only 3000kms. I think I would have freaked out a little if I hadn't read your post. It's only happened once and I did hit the bump pretty fast, so I think in my case it was just the shock bottoming out.
