Auto Stop/Start

Just had a quick question: I think I read somewhere that the auto stop feature only works if temperature is above 3 degrees C. However the feature in my X3 seems to work even when it's much colder - as long as the car has warmed up a bit after driving for a few minutes.
I just picked up a new 320i xdrive today - drove around for much of the afternoon and made many stops at stop signs and red lights - and the auto stop feature hasn't kicked in even once yet. The feature is not shut off via button. Temperature outside today was relatively mild at -1 to -3 degrees C. I called the sales guy at BMW to let him know - he said don't worry it'll kick in eventually.

Any ideas ? Is it because it's below +3 degrees ? But if that's the case, why does it seem to work in the X3 even when it's quite cold outside ?

Thanks

Garage List
It also depends on what kind of pressure you're putting on the battery. If your heater, defrost, heated seats etc are on, the car won't shut the engine down to avoid draining your battery.

Same thing will happen if it is auto stopped and you do something like open the sunroof, car will turn back on to protect battery

If you look at your manual you will see that it won't turn on if its too cold and also alot of different factors.

Well, the auto stop/start feature started working properly today. Maybe the battery was a little on the low side when I first got the vehicle and now that I drove it for a couple of days, it's fully charged.

If you're in a cold climate, you may want to consider a battery charger.
