Post 328i (2012) on Redbook

http://redbook.com.au/cars/research/...&Ridx=0&eapi=2

Thought I post this up as an FYI.

Interesting to see the Options listed with prices, however it could be misleading given that it doesn't select some of the options that come as standard with the Line e.g. the sports seats for the Sport line.

Also confirms what most of us already know, Redbook is about as precise as a shotgun when it comes to pricing.

Thanks for sharing

I have been looking at 328i for a while now and gotten a quote through the leasing company. The discount they offered just on the 328i sportline is impressive (3k+ off), the discount on the options and delivery are also quite good. I understand it's probabley because this is a lease and I have to pay the residual value after the lease if I want to keep the car.. Just wondering whether the dealer will come to the party if I offer the same pricing or they will show me the door straightway.

This is the model I got quoted on

328i sportline
mineral white
Seat heating for front seats
Variable sport steering
Electric sunroof - glass
harman/kardon Surround Sound System
DAB-Tuner
Navigation system Professional

$73000

Just compared some prices to some that I have - it seems that this pricing for the options are the Luxury Car Tax inclusive pricing, so if the car is under 75,375 (the fuel efficient LCT level) pre stamp duty and GST the options will be cheaper - only the portion over the 75,375 will incur the LCT. RRP is I think 64600 plus dealer delivery, so you have around 11k less dealer delivery of LCT free options.

Many lease companies claim back the GST, the option prices had 10% off which may be the GST off, and then the price off the car could be the 1/11th value of the LCT which you can claim back in GST (you can't claim back the full 10% on a luxury car). Otherwise, some threads have been discussing discounts of upto 8-9%... you never know unless you try and ask! Where are you based?

I checked your pricing against mine and what you're paying for your options is almost identical (which I think was about 10-15% off rack rate).

The main difference is in what you pay for the vehicle price. You can get lower than what you've listed there, but I guess it's going to depend on how keen your dealer is when it comes to moving stock.

Thanks for the advice.. I thought the vehicle price i listed was pretty low already.. guess i have to push harder now, and i always thought 328i are selling like hot cakes, therefore they don't need to worry about moving stock.

ok, got a response from them.. i asked them to confirm whether the base price ($60125) is for the sportline or just the base model. I must have confused them somehow, they updated the quote to include the price for the sportpack, for which they are quoting me $4963.. Now, i know there is another thread for sportpack, however i don't know what this pack consists ? and what's the RRp for it ? didn't see it on redbook either.

Sport line maybe? There's no "sport pack" that I'm aware of.

i am still suspicious of this quote.. i haven't spoken to the dealer myself after all, it's just a quote from the lease company.

I'd recommend you check out some of the dealers yourself. Leasing companies don't know jack about difference in options/packs for BMWs as they cater for a whole suite of cars makes. They just put down what they get told by the dealer sales people.

The path I went down with my lease was armed with the lease quote price (and plus the GST component) in my mind (apparently its a booboo to do price comparisons between dealers), I went to a few dealers to see if I could get a better deal (or options thrown in if there's less room to wiggle). Once I found the price I was happy with (and options included), I just got the leasing company to contact the dealer to quote it up.
