From what I understand, it should work on all F series

I'm curious if anyone has had any success with asking their dealer to change a few items before picking up their new car?
I'm going to ask my CA if one of the tech's can at least change the 2 things I'm wondering about.
It would be great to know where those parameters reside so that I can tell the tech, in case they will do it for me.

Once you've got it figured out, can you post relevant "coding" info that I could give to the tech?
TIA!
The ASS memory setting and off by default are both already available. I'm still working on the last drive mode (so I can have my wife drive in Eco-Pro only ).

I doubt dealers will be able to do these chances for you. If it is true what I've heard, then they have no access to these parts of the code like we do (then again, that's hearsay, I cannot confirm or deny anything there).

Still working on it, need to get my wife drive in Eco-Pro only (have to be honest, didn't really search for it yet, will probably do so soon )

@Zibawal, you're saying you want to get the auto-stop feature while you don't have it yet?

Btw, guys, I just learned that a fellow coder, ImSW1, now also sells cables (made by himself). He is also the one from who I, indirectly, received my own cable. His cables are great, no question about it. He builds and ships them for $25 USD. Usually, after he receives payment, he can have the cable ship the next day and arrive with you only two days later (that's for the 48 contiguous states, Alaska and Hawaii might take a few days longer due to the distance (cost stays the same due to it being shipped flat rate with USPS)).

So if you want a rather cheap and fast alternative, drop him a line

I have a feeling he might, but he will probably have to ask more for shipping. Just drop him a line and he can tell you

Svache,

Thanks for putting this out to the F30 community.

@aarslan,

Sure I'll ship to you in Turkey but you'll need to deal with Turkish customs There is $6.05 already built into the $25.00 for shipping, so you'd just have to make up the difference in cost. I'll need your address to get a firm price for you. I'd also like to insure the package but will discuss after you decide if you want to go this route.

If any of you have questions feel free to PM me or post here. If you want to build your own cable I built a cable how-to, so I'm sure svache will add it to the main post.

Managed to read the car configuration via my home-built cable. Now I have a lot of configuration browsing to do before I make any changes.

I just added the cable DIY to the main post, I was kind of tied up most of the day but it's there now =)

Good luck. Let me know how difficult. Once I'm shown how to, I'd be fine, but nervous about screwing it up.

Success! Coded on my own car:

- Mirror folding/unfolding with remote
- Mirror folding/unfolding with CA
- Windows/roof close with remote
- Reduced iDrive startup disclaimer to 4 seconds (from 10)
- Set mirror auto unfold speed to 20 km/h (from 40 km/h, a personal peeve)

Svache, thanks for posting all the helpful information. Couldn't have done it without you.

Awesome! Glad it all worked out

Btw, could you add the chances you did (that aren't in my cheat sheet yet) so I can add them to the cheat sheet for everyone's references? (a bit like this: FEM_BODY -> 3060 LceMaster -> NSW_AUS_BEI_FL -> original: aktiv -> new: nicht_aktiv) thanks =)

Here's the one that sets the speed at which the mirrors automatically unfold. Tested it today and it works like a charm:

FEM_BODY -> 3110 PfExternalMirrorMaster -> ASP_GESCHWINDIGKEIT_AUTO_AUSKLAPPEN -> Original: werte = 28 -> New: werte = 14

I don't know whether the units are universally in km/h or whether they are coded for mph for US owners though. These are of course the hexadecimal speed numbers.

Also, noticed one difference in your cheat sheet to my configuration. In my car the LEGAL_DISCLAIMER_TIME timeout value is actually in section "3001 EXBOX" and not "3000 HMI".

Also changed just now:

HU_CIC -> 3000 HMI -> NAVI_TRAFFIC_INFO_MAP -> nicht_aktiv -> aktiv

This gives the Nav menu options to display traffic / gray map, however I don't know whether there is actually any traffic info yet. Will take a bit of driving to figure that out.

Thanks, Raspartan

I just checked, you're right, it's supposed to be 3001, I guess I was a bit too quick with adding it to the cheat sheet the other time

Most of the units (if not all) are in the metric system from what I've seen with my own car, so I think it's universally

I added it and edited the cheat sheet, will upload it a bit later, thanks so much

Drove to the bookstore and back this evening, but no traffic information. The only difference I can see is that the map has that blue-tinged monochromatic cast. From what I can see in E-Sys though, there is much more that might need changing for this to work here in Toronto.
