Holy thread bump.

Terry. I'm now in the same boat having bought a 2005 987 S last week.

Drove it home Friday, 30 or so miles, a good few on the back roads & I can't stop grinning. Have come into work the last 2 days in it to put a few miles on it & give it a shake down & it really is a lovely place to be.

Roll on the weekends, I am looking forward to going for pointless drives without any reason

Great to hear Simon!

It's a very smile inducing car to have, for no other reason than the pure sensation of driving

Thinking of any mods?

I know it doesn't compare with a Boxter but I finished work early. Took the B660 home, no traffic. Suspension in sport, gearbox in sport. Had an absolute blast!

If you fancy catching up again at some point then let me know, and maybe I can inspire you!

I've got Eibach springs and Bilstein B8 dampers on mine now, and in the next month or so will be putting on a new exhaust system with high flow sports cats and deleting the secondary rear cats.

Have you got rid of the MX5 now?

Up for some track days?

Doesn't matter, taking a drive for the sheer pleasure of it is a dying pastime, and will only get worse as roads get busier, policing gets stricter, and cars go increasingly autonomous.

That sounds like a great idea. Wait till weather improves & definitely, Terry. Yes to a TD or 2 & the MX5 is for sale.

Want to keep this standard as the 5 was pretty modded for TD's & although great on road, after 2 hours driving I ached lots. Plan is to go Drive places, maybe tour of Europe & id love to do a DN day @ the ring in it.

& no zenons. Heated leather, computer, cruise. That's about it. Happy with that, sat nav dated on a 12 year old car & I got at a price I'm very happy.

Re exhaust. Chap who built my old E36 Track car recommends a SS manifold & remap for good gains.

B660 is a great road, that's for sure. Used to be better early 2000's before all the traffic calming etc but still lovely & flowing in places.

Once you are out of Kimbolton it gets better. Between Kimbolton and Bedford there's long stretches down to 30 and 40. No fun!

I've had my Boxster for 7 years, not the fastest car but definitely one of the best handling and the exhaust howl is pure joy to listen too. Best thing is that almost everyone pulls over on dual carriageways to let me by, nobody moves over when I'm in the 4 series.

The 981 Spyder is an absolute beauty.

I read just last week that the 718 Spyder will use the the GT3 engine, albeit in a detuned state. Still 425bhp though!

I quite like this fellow, I know it's not a true Spyder but it has a certain appeal:

Love the exterior, though probably because it's the same colour and wheels as mine, with just good colour differing. But that interior is hurting my eyes!

Red seats would be good, but not red everything!

It's a well specced car though, and low miles so I can't imagine you'd go too wrong.

Nice car. They did these with the black interior and hood, but most seem to be in red

I do like GT Silver.
