Fuel on your drive

Fuel delivery service brings diesel to your car in London.

Interesting concept.

That's the question! Cheap supermarket fuel at premium prices.

I signed up yesterday and was harassed by messages in the evening offering 20 quid of free fuel... I did think about the fuel quality but could always add some millere ecomax to it.

It was four weeks. Twice.
How are you feeling now compared to then?

As I'm still on very high doses of medication, it can be difficult to know what how I really feel, but the first question my phychiatrist asks me is about my "mood", which has been pretty stable for some time. The $64,000 question of course is can they get you off the drugs, without mood suffering
I can't imagine what mental illness must be like, I suppose the closest I get is towards the end of Winter when I have very little motivation for anything

Nothing like what you have and are suffering currently.

It's a little concerning that it can effect anyone at any time and to be reliant on drugs isn't great. However I am pleased that drugs do make a difference and at least stabilise the situation.

Looking back what would you have done differently, was your situation avoidable in hindsight?

What I would say is that we all have "baggage" in our subconscious that we are unaware of. It took intensive therapy in my case, to find than baggage and confront it. The problem with not confronting this baggage is, without you knowing it, your mental health is being damaged.
Sometimes the baggage may be far more prominent in the consciousness. But just as dangerous. To give you an example. When I was in the Priory the first time, I attended therapy, for a number of months, with a lady who had an abortion when she was sixteen. Her mother took her to have the pregnancy terminated, and it was never spoken about again. Now in her fourties, senior position in the NHS, two children, lovely home, you'd think to look at her she had no problems. If I told you this lady always wore long sleeves, because every night she would take razor blades to slash her arms and that in therapy after thirty years, was the first time she'd talked to anyone, including her husband, about the guilt that haunted her.

The one thing I think everyone can do to protect their mental health is ensure that you strike the correct work life balance. And that means ensuring you have quality time for family, you have "me" time and you get to socialise with friends.
Thanks mate appreciate you being open, I enjoy work but over the last few years have lost interest and now see it as a means to an end. I guess being an Interim is perfect as you can do a good job then leave.

I plan to take 2-3 months off each year now as life is too short and I don't need a huge income.

Hope you manage to beat the drugs and find the dream home in Spain.

If my plans come good in 8 years I will be there as well.

My wife suffered from mental health issues - first recognised when she had what was diagnosed as post natal depression after the birth of the second.

She probably never really got back to normal - she had spells when you would say she was ok but it was just a front. She never returned to work and consequently lost her confidence - which was low anyway...

In later life she saw a counsellor - which I think found the baggage that you refer to, and to me confirmed her mental health problems stemmed from her childhood (the youngest of six, and a twin - and not the dominant one, little money and little attention)

It was too late for her and she was on a downward spiral that couldnt be halted - but it might explain why I spent a chunk of my later life contracting (to get the right balance between looking after her and earning enough to pay the bills - careers arent that important when your home life could implode at any time...) and why I do my best to make sure my kids understand how important they are and how unimportant some other things are...

Glad you are getting the help you need Nick/Lobb/Incon.... It never really seemed to work for my other half and the outcome was pretty much as expected...

This doesn't bode well when their demo video shows them fuelling up the wrong car

Imagine all the crud that will be pumped in to your tank.

Think of a bottle of home brew wine etc.

Leave it to settle and look at the sediment in the bottom, now agitate the bottle.

Pretty much same with a tanker fuelling your car direct.
