It's very interesting how in some countries you can buy the top model with less money than the base model in others'

316i you can buy in Slovenia for 26.000 eur which is approximatly 34.500 usd. But not much people buy 316i, mostly are 316d which cost from 27.500 eur. This are regular prices, you can always deal for something less.

Hi Guys, Hope all is well with you.

I am kind of a newbie here so i am still trying to find my way around. Also i am new to BMW and still trying to understand of things, but from what i am seeing from all posts , I think i am in the right place

I just got my 316i 2014 and am so excited about it, but i had no idea that there are different models for the Bluetooth/ idrive. so after a lot of internet digging, i found out that mine is the basic Bluetooth or what BMW calls Handsfree system with usb interface (6NH)

I would really appreciate any help on what updates i can do to support BMW apps, Bluetooth multimedia, Album Artwork. is it only software updates or does it need hardware as well?

Yes one more thing to share the pain The 316i here cost around 48K USD not as big as 60k USD

Mabrook al3arabiah

don't even bother trying the upgrade other than the sound by adding an amplifier and better speakers, even this is risky,
I recommend you just live with the fact that you have the basic IDrive system like I do

and post some pictures of the new car

salamat

I suppose Singapore holds the record for the most expensive cars in the world.

My 316 costs US $130k and that is for the most basic model.

In the Netherlands and Germany at least, there's the 320i Efficient dynamics edition. It's also powered by the N13 B16 engine with twinscroll turbo and has the same camshafts as the Mini cooper S with the N18 engines. The cams in the 316i are a bit different.
Output with that engine is 175 hp from 4800 to 6450 rpm with 250 nm of torque from 1500-5000 rpm. Combined with the ZF 8 speed auto it actually is quite a good drive. The manual version suffers a bit from the longer final drive of 2.8:1 instead of 3.08.

Racechip has some nice goodies for these 1.6 engines as well.
Stock 136 hp, 220 Nm. Tuned 186 hp and 273 Nm.
http://www.racechip.com/chiptuning/b...00kw/index.php

The 320i EDE:
Stock 170 hp, 250 Nm will do 215 hp and 320 nm with the racechip.
http://www.racechip.com/chiptuning/b...25kw/index.php

The normal N20 B20 320i:
Stock 184 hp, 270 Nm and tuned 224 hp, 325 nm. Not that much more.
http://www.racechip.com/chiptuning/b...35kw/index.php

And there's more, once you install the Bastuck front connecting pipe to the downpipe of the N13 based cars, you can install any exhaust made for 320i and 328i on these cars. The small diameter mid section of 52.5 mm gets replaced with 76 mm a system. If you don't want too much noise, you could even slap on the OEM 328i exhaust, or the 328i mid section silencer which has the 75 mm tubing. Any rear silencer for the 320i/328i will fit then, including the BMW Performance. I've heard of guys dynoing the 316i stock with just the cat-back exhaust and getting 16 hp and 22 nm from it without remap. Quite nice considering you can have a very frugal car which can still get you smiling on the back roads, especially with the racechip setup added to it. About 200 hp 316i sounds quite good.

To own a car in Singapore, you need to bid for a certificate of entitlement. The price fluctuates based on supply and demand. The current price for a certificate is US$60k.

On top of that, there is a tax ranging from 100%-180%.

Hmm, that's an interesting point there in regards to the exhaust system. I already using the Racechip for my 316i. Will consider upgrading the exhaust system when my warranty period is over. Vroom vroom!!

Has anyone got any experience of the performance increase after fitting a Racechip on a 316i?

is there much improvement in acceleration?

any alternative chips?

Smile Considering buying a F30 316i

After having my E90 LCI stolen. I have found someone who wants to sell me their F30 316i

I've been reading up on it and I cant seem to find much in terms of coolant issues related to this engine.

Can anyone tell me if these motors are prone to serious coolant leaks and problems as such?

This 316i i might buy has approx 80 000km on it

Thanks in advance

A quick remap will get you 170bhp 280nm torque, not bad for £300

316i Owner here!

Hey guys, i got a 316i as well a few months ago. I live in germany and we got a decent deal on an F30 316i with the following specs: sunroof, manual transmission, handsfree/navigation.

Things I don't have which kind of bothers me:
-Xenon/Angel Eyes
- any kind of OEM alloy wheels, I only have 16 inch aftermarket alloys for the summer and OEM steel wheels for the winter
- cruise control or any multifunction steering wheel
- bluetooth audio streaming
- heated seats

I would like to retrofit some stuff but I fear that this will be dang expensive, especially as soon as I want to remap the engine and put wheels on it. Of couse it's cool to modify some things on a car, but it might be better to just sell it and buy a 320i for about 2000€ more with already decent specs, which does not need as many retrofits, where I can concentrate on the mods that might be more exciting.

Well I just did some research and found out, that for a 320i, I had to spend at least 4000€ more. And then it would be even harder to find one that has a sunroof and the beatiful color I have (Imperial Blue). I guess it's also much more fun to do my own retrofits than to to have a stock 320i.
For these 4000€ I can get: Engine remap to 200hp (which is already quicker than the 320i), angel eyes Halogen lamps and alloy rims and would probably still be left with a lot of money for nice stuff like a performance exhaust (I don't know what you think, but the 316i sounds so quiet and boring, the 320i probably won't be much better).

I am still a bit suspicious but I think buying a base model 316i and upgrading it is much more fun than elsehow.

What do you think?
