Oh I think I have something like that too. I have a 28 xdrive and as I go over certain bumps the center trim piece seems to emit a cracking sound. Like a snapping or something like that. Nothing's cracking but it does sometimes make noise. Not all the time and not enough to really bother me.

Does the dashboard rattle only occur to you guys on a colder day or both?

I have a rattle/vibration but only when I accelerate (say around 2k rpm). It's starting to get REALLY annoying. I'm going to make sure I can absolutely reproduce it no problem and take it in. Any suggestions?

Mine is constant and only stops when I get to higher speeds like 60km. You here it immediately when you start the cAr and drive off. I don't think it's due to weather in my case.

I just picked up my car yesterday and within the first mile noticed a rattle in the rear parcel shelf. I the cause this morning. One of the screws that holds rear shelf speaker was lose and the speaker was vibrating. Tighten it up and all is well for now.

Mine rattles, but nothing like that. If it was that bad, I feel that would be easy to take care of. It seems easy to reproduce. Mine comes and goes. There are days when it's completely silent... and there are days when it rattles for 20 miles straight. I couldn't even figure out where it's coming from.

My rattle is more like a buzzing noise. Almost sounds like a lose speaker wire.

Exactly. Only at a certain rpm (near yours) and only through the first few gears before it speeds up.

So I showed this to my dealer and they acknowledged the problem. However, they could reproduce it 10-20% of the time. They claim it is normal for a N55 engine specifically... They said they tested a few other F30 335i and also some E90 335i to see if it exhibit the same "rattle" during certain accelerations. They just claim that it's the complexion of the air movement and the n55 engine that causes this noise...

Note that if I drive with the AC on, this noise disappears. Only with the AC off is when I have this rattling/buzzing.

Seems these cars are plagued with rattles.

One I saw earlier this week was the sunroof cassette, I found it by removing the headliner and theres a sheet metal support that goes across the center of the car that was the cause. If anyone has a rattle in that general area, I was able to make it stop while pushing up on the center dome light. Crazy thing is that another one in the shop had the same issue, two in one week...

Just thought I'd share some info'

Just keep going in until they fix it, or bring it to BMWNA's attention. The more documented, the better

Listen up guys. The F30 335i has a design fault which BMW do not want to admit. I purchased a new MSport 335i in April. The car rattled at around 2-3k rpm at low speeds. I returned the vehicle 7 times. The rattle sounds like its comming from behind the dash and is loud and noticeable and very irritating. After a long battle they agreed to replace the car. Guess what? My replacement has precisely the same problem. For 5 months now I have not had the pleasure of driving a new car which has cost me a cool R650 000 ($65k) To be quite frank I absolutely loathe BMW and will never purchase one again. Never Ever!

I fail to see how it's a design fault when it's not present in all cars. Sounds more like a bad batch of certain parts or periodic quality control issues.

Believe it or not my rattle came from a duct that was below the tranny. It took them about 4-5 hours to diagnose and fix. I've had it two weeks now and it has not come back. I was not thrilled that they had to move parts of the tranny to fix it but feeling better that my car doesn't sound like it has a constant loose part moving around.

The problem is the same issue is present in a large percentage of 335i's, in different countries (Germany, USA, South Africa and UK to name a few). I have recently been informed by BMW Germany that the problem is to do with resonant frequencies regarding the exhaust, chassis and so forth and has presented itself all over the place in certain temperature conditions (engine, exhaust and ambient temperatures). It seems to only affect 335i's. They are currently busy with a PUMA case opened by their Engineers and it could take months to resolve.

Cancel your order dude.

Weird. On my second M-Sport (the second is a South Africa build) and all is quiet. Rented a 320D in Germany for four days last week and it was quiet as well.

No need to cancel my order - I need to change my current ride. It arrived 3 months ago and thankfully, I don't have the problems others are having.

are u sure your engine fan isnt failing? i see the temp guage is also on the low side. my 335 produced this exact same sound on acceleration when the engine fan was on full blast.

after the fan replacement, i now get this sound still but its much quieter and random, mostly when cold in the morning

How is the temperature gauge being on the low side indicative of fan failure. To me, that suggests things are being kept sufficiently cool by the cooling system. Mine never gets any higher than shown in the vid either.

I think mine has a similar issue. It's at the dealer now for the third time. They've had it for two weeks this time now.
