I find it hard to believe that in comparison to a VW especially a MK7 golf the F30 favoured any better. I think BMW should be ashamed of the interior in the 3/4 series. In the 1 & 2 series it is merely acceptable but in the 3, it isn't. I'm very disappointed with the lack of refinement and quality with the F30. Going back into my F10 is worlds ahead. I didn't expect the F30 to be better or as good as the F10, I went in thinking about the F30 in its own unique way not taking any other car into account and all I can say is that I thought it would be better than what I have experienced.
The car has more pick up which I love.

Gotta agree on the touch screen. Wifes Golf has the RNS 510 and its a PITA to operate while moving, you have to concentrate to get the right button, quite dangerous.
Not helped by a lack of MFSW controls. Hence on the lookout for one! |

Still haven't changed my mind The point of the thread was observations to compare my F30 and all the lovin for the Golf on here I would check it out as my mum is getting a tiguan, We sat in and we drove a few. At the end of the day a golf can be over 30k as was the tiguan R line so fair to compare to the F30 and the interior plastics were shocking. So just trying to address some balance to the arguments on here. Jewel Like it ain't.
Again some areas of the f30 are substandard but I think the dash is high quality and so far so happy. Having said all that I just noticed there is a cracking deal for a Golf R on hotukdeals http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/volk...tional-1960241 Last edited by dazzapb; 07-25-2014 at 03:03 AM.. |

Yes, a shitty touchscreen but a bit more intuitive. Senses your finger approaching!

Thanks for sharing your wife's fingering antics on you. She sounds a right goer. Are you not a lucky chap? I hope her nails are not too long and sharp! Ouch, ouch!

The iDrive IMO is fantastic, especially with the screen at road level. Plus the shortcut buttons really do help. |

Have to agree that idrive is superior interface than a touchscreen! Much safer to use on the go.
Also, the voice control is worth putting a little effort in to. Once you get used to it then it works very well and saves any touching and looking away from the road.

Touch screens have always been that distraction of having to look at your finger and not the damn road. I get on quite well with my voice control now, we have reached an understanding, I won't call her a lesbian bitch and she won't call the wrong people. The Geordie pack helped, admittedly I prefer the ford voice control system, it actually controls setup things like airflow. |

Ah, yes. Good wrist action is also essential. Now just imagine what poor @Brigand is going through with only 4 available fingers and a thumb! My heart bleeds for him. Hope he will be able to resume normal service soon.

I have been using my right hand more (left handed). Totally weird using your wrong hand for stuff, bit like someone else's. |

Now I have had a sore back for 2 weeks. It's much better now, but for the first week I could not drive, sit for more than 5 minutes etc. Imagine the drama trying to go to the big toilet!!! Wear and tear and then death! Boohoo!
