Hi Bimmer Fans and Drivers!

Here is a bit of background info on the "how" and the "why" I got here:

I own a 2013 328 xDrive Luxury Line (Important because it means no M brakes nor Sports Suspension).

I have also read through all following threads:

Having said that, I am still not convinced that that 255/40R18 tires on 18x8.5 would fit inside my car's fenders without any rubbing or problems.

The reason is that at times OPs changed their mind to 245/40R18 or 255/35R18 tires, OR decided to go through with a staggered set-up, OR had some form of stance upgrade (either coilovers or lowering sports springs) which is irrelevant for my base car.

Since I have xDrive, I rather stick to the square setup.
I chose 255/40R18 over other sizes because it gives the same overall 26" diameter to the wheel as the original factory.
Why don't I just get 225s if I am this concerned? because from behind F30 in "my" eyes, looks like a car that has been skipping leg day since 1991.

Lastly, I know offset is crucial to this discussion. I am open to ANY ET as long as the front fenders of my 328 can perfectly fit 255 tires. To my understanding that includes ETs 35 and up. If I am completely wrong here, please feel free to inform me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my question is: Will 255/40R18 square set-up fit a base 328 F30? If you have this set-up, any comments or pictures would really be appreciated.

Cheers!

I have APEX ARC8 18x8.5 ET38 with PSS 255/40/18 all around on mine. Lowered on Bilstien B16 coilovers. Before lowering the wheel gap was obviously hideous. But no rubbing.

After lowering, the clearance between the wheel and the perch on the strut is very small, I can't really get in there to measure. I am probably going to be doing a stud conversion and adding 3-5mm spacers. But I may not .. I think it fits fine ... I went to a parking lot and spun around until I was dizzy, no rubbing.

In addition this https://tiresize.com/calculator/ and especially this https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ are useful tools to see how things will go

Thank you for your help in easing my mind. Can you please post pictures of your setup here?

Hi Agoll,
Did you end up going with a 255/40R18 on an 8.5 rim?
If so, how did it work out?
I have an F31 Lux Line, and was looking at this sizing too and was thinking that an ET35 offset should work for a square set... but I'm debating between tire sizes at the moment (235/45R18 vs 255/40R18).

Hi Hunter82

I did go through with the plan, however, upon the initial proper assessment, it became quickly apparent to me that for this setup to fit the front, offset must be +38. I went with FAST Wheel FC04, offset +40 front and back. For the back, you could get offset +32, however, since my car is AWD and I rotate my tires, I went with a square setup. However, a 10-12mm spacer in the back can be fitted with my set up, to make the back as flush looking as the front.

Also, please note that I went with Bridgestone Drivegaurd (all season) for my tires. michelin super sports (my friends have) are far more bulkier in nature. for instance, a 245/40r18 michelin super sport 4s is wider than my tires.

other than that, I am loving 255 square setup every way possible on my care.

This week after I wash the car, I will post pictures here too.

cheers mate
