The new 3 looks closer to the coupe this generation.

As opposed to the E90 being the worlds most ugly saloon compared to the E92.

I like both in Msport, but it seems this generation looks better with and need the aftermarket accessories. The coupe is growing on me, but I would prefer the sedan tails on the coupe, I absolutely hate the shape of the tails on the coupe.

Where I live I have no access to any race track at all let alone the Ring! I know an M3 would be a much better track car but my torquey 335i is a much better daily driver and certainly can keep up with an M3 in day to day driving. A few M badges - why the hell not!
I agree with the original comment. The ///M on the fender just looks out of place. Just like an "x-drive" badge looks out of place there. The gills of the M3/M5 with a subtle M badge looks more fitting than a lone M emblem in that location. It just doesn't flow.

I'm missing this... The second to last image shows it on the 4.

You certainly have a good point there - the design on the M3/M5 with the M badge there is more subtle. Anything that is an afterthought never looks as good as something that was integrated into the design at the outset.

My point is that an M badge on an M-sport with some additional hp and enhancements over the other lines is not out of place. A true M car will always be known for what it is by car people - for the rest of the population - they could care less. For these people, my wife included - they don't know the difference between an M3 or an X3 - its just a car.

I understand your reasoning and it makes perfect sense. I just think having an ///M emblem on the 3-er or 4 is just like some stroon slapping one on E92, E46, etc.

Well I did not however I removed stock wheels effectively taking out 4 emblems. That was just my opinion, nothing personal guy/girl.

These m logos signify m-like parts that set them apart from the lux line etc
You know it's funny but it seems like M sport package 3s have more ///M emblems than actual M3s.

You're actually right on that - little m badges on the wheels (4) 2 on the kick sills and one on the steering wheel - that makes 7! Why not another couple on the fenders - go for broke!

I didn't put the M-performance stickers that I got with the PPK on though - so I have some restraint!

Anyway enjoy your M3 - it is an awesome ride! I am sure you have taken it around the Ring - lucky guy! We really don't get much chance to exercise our cars here in North America with low speed limits and heavy policing.

There might be a significant difference when viewing the two cars in person... But just looking at these pictures so two cars that are basically the same

There are a lot of good parts to choose from. Some I don't like much like the add on side skirts, strips.

Reading about the chassis and how much stiffer the coupe is compared to the sedan, this is a great platform for the M4. I think there will be some real upside to power and torque with aftermarket tuning with the new M4.

It's a bit odd that the 335 m-sport sedan has no fogs, but the coupe does.

so amazed by the very little effort BMW has put into introducing a "supposed to be" evolutionary 4 series instead of just copying pretty much the 3 series...less 2 doors!
Don't get me wrong...it's not a disappointing car on its own...but they had this great opening chance at coming up with something much more revolutionary and appealing to completely wipe out the rivals...but what a "Me-too" !!!
I remember the initial concept design was a bit more promising...
oh welll...maybe I'm wrong.
I was waiting for the grand coupe version (4 door 4 series)...but it really doesn't give me a very different car than my 3 series...so no incentive!

is it just me or do you guys also think that the M performance wheels are much nicer and creative than the factory wheels on the real M models. e.g. the M5/ 6 wheels, very dull IMHO but if the real M models would come with the M performance wheels, there would be no need for aftermarket! just my thoughts...

On mine there are already 12 ! 4 on the wheels, 4 on the brake calipers, 2 on the door sills, 1 on the steering wheel, 1 on the footrest... And now there are 2 more on the front fenders, even on the 3 series !
