Thanks! Geez, they recommend checking the oil level whenever you fuel up? I'd get screamed at sitting at the gas station waiting the 3 minutes for the engine to measure it...

$6.77 for a quart of oil is kind of stupid...but I guess now with my
I'll be all set....

Well, 630 miles into that new quart and it's down 25% again. Maybe I should drive like an old lady and not go beyond 4k rpm. TROUBLING to say the least.

I'm wary of Audi's 2.0T because of oil consumption, I hope this is not widespread with the N20

After a "hard" break in my N55 hasn't dropped a tick from max after 4k miles.

Changed the oil to German Castrol (0w-30) at 4k, and still sitting at max 3k miles later.

Had the same result with my N54 - little to no oil consumption whatsoever.

I'd be interested to see how those who are experiencing excessive oil consumption broke in their engines.

At 4200 miles I was down a 2nd quart. BMW NA told me that they won't even investigate oil consumption unless it's at a rate of 1 qt every 750 miles or less. A bunch of BS.

Sheesh, that seems high. I was down half a quart at 6800 miles. At 3k it still read 100%.

At 11,500, had an addt'l qt added at 5 or 6k, and still at max.

I get a free change end of April, so lets see...

Yes I added a quart at around 10k. It said via onboard diagnostics it was at minimum. I added a quart and it was ok.

I think it typical of any turbo car to burn a bit of oil especially during breakin, nothing to get freaked out about. Audi's on te other hand are strangely widely known for their love of devouring oil. Everyone I knew that owned an a4 always complained about the oil lamp being lit constantly. I have a friend at work and his wife's a4 needed new turbos before 10k and new timing belt. I like Audi styling but not a fan of their poor quality.

Coming up to 3,000 km after a nice open road trip around the Olympic Peninsula. Onboard measurement states that oil is at maximum. My break in period has been done per the owner's manual and I have tried to vary the engine speeds throughout. No heavier throttle usage until the oil is completely warmed up.

I just checked the oil level on our 2013 335 M Sport and it showed that it was down about 20 to 25% according to the iDrive reading on the display. Prior to that it was at 100% probably 500 miles ago. From the above posts, I guess that it is normal to for the N55 to use some oil. Will check with the our dealer to see what they say. BTW, our 2001 330ci used about a quart every 5-6K miles.

I just added 1 quart after 6000km.... I'm not worried.

All my other ones did the same over break in. Hopefully after this initial one, I would think about 1 quart a year is about right ( 20,000km or so ). At that rate, it will be solid until 100k km and then start to consume some more.

At least that's my experience.

I had a4 2.0t that drank 1 quart of oil every 3k miles. On the Audi forums, they say unless it is 1 qt every 750-1000 miles, it is considered normal. I said BS and traded it for 535. I have had my CPO 1 year and have added 1 quart of oil over 12k miles. I noticed my oil level dropped after I was out doing some "spirited" driving with friends. On my normal commute and occasional full throttle run, it does not seem to consume. I would be interested to know how hard people push their cars. I suspect those with high consumption do more "spirited driving"? Just my thoughts.
