That red one gets me going. Does anyone know if there is a PPK available for the 435i in the US?

Great to see some actual pics of the convertible.
I love it. I was scared that it was gonna look too much like the coupe, which looks like a crappy hatchback. Much much better as a vert. |

could definitely use some nicer wheels. it's nice when the test driver allows the " spy photographer " to take photos of the interior as well..

With the exception of the M sport front bumper.. this just looks.. awkward.. It's too bad, I really wanted to like the 4er.
Also, how did BMW manage to make their led headlights lights looks so much like old halogen lights??

Yup same for me. I think the e93 is fantastic, and I'd much rather take it over an e92, however the 4 series convertible looks very awkward. Would not hit.

If you're used to the E93 then this isn't so bad. But if you're not then it's just as ugly as the E93! I, for one, am waiting for the M4 Convertible before I reserve judgment, as the E93 M3 Convertible looks much better than a non-M3 version. I'm guessing the same will happen with this model.
As for the trunk, yes - they definitely changed the trunk design (inside the trunk). But I am guessing you will still be able to store things on both sides, possibly with the roof down now as well given that there don't appear to be those warning stickers on this new version (although perhaps we just can't see it due to the angle). Here's to hoping the M4 Convertible will look much better, as I'm hoping it will be my next car! |

I saw and sat in the new 4 series convertible today at the LA Auto Show. It was a 428i Luxury Line in White. I currently own an E93 M3 Convertible for comparison. Here's a few points of feedback:
1) The roof was down so unfortunately I couldn't compare it with the roof up. Clearly the front end is significantly different due to headlights. I honestly didn't love the front end BUT I suspect the M Sport version would look much better upfront. 2) The hood "cut line" some have been complaining about it quite prominent. Doesn't look right at first glance but I will eventually probably be able ignore it. 3) The interior is obviously similar to the new 3/4 series. I will say that it's not nearly as nice as the current interior in the 5/6 series, which is a shame because the quality of those interiors is frankly amazing. 4) The trunk has 2 major changes due to the new bars in the trunk and "trunk lift" mechanism. The 2 side storage areas are now roughly 50% smaller to accommodate for the new side rails. And the trunk + roof now lift at the touch of button when the roof is down to allow you to access the entire middle area. This feature is fantastic and should have been the way the E93 was designed! 5) 2 other minor trunk observations: The trunk area in the middle was about 10% smaller but that might just be me. And the cover that must be down when the roof is down was MUCH more flimsy than the current cover. It wasn't fully plastic now so it didn't feel as solid and didn't lock quite as solidly. But the tradeoff is well worth it with the new trunk + roof up/down mechanism to access the trunk - it's really great. Overall I really didn't feel like there were too many major differences between the E93 and the new 4 series. There might have been a minor increase in cabin space both front/rear and the new front end is significantly different but overall it's certainly just an evolution of the E93. I am waiting for the M4, as that might be my next car. A final note: I saw a 435i coupe in Mineral Gray Metallic. I was never a fan of Space Gray, as I loved Silver Gray and thought it was much nicer, but I am not psyched to possibly buy Mineral Gray Metallic. It was lighter than it appears in photos and looks great under lights. Definitely much more dynamic than Space Gray and I liked it much more than I anticipated. It was clear that you absolutely need to see the color in-person to properly judge it. I hope that feedback helps some people! Jeremy |
