Whats in a reg

I have a bit of a quandary.

The stealers have been looking out for a full spec 330d or 335d. Last week i got a call to say they were have an "event" and have a couple of cars that might be of interest.

With having just splashed a grand on the dmf etc... I'm not desperate to take the next car (sort of want to get my moneys worth before trading) but if something was to show it's face with the right spec/price then,,,, maybe.

The 65 plate 330xd LCI with 19k miles we discussed was in Cumbria, however after going through the massive spec: Black/Red coral, 19" M Spoke 442, rev camera, Sun protection, High beam, Pro Nav, H&K, M Aerodynamics package, M Sport+ pack, folding mirrors, Service pack etc. we managed to get to a deal. I felt the car was still overpriced by about a grand but the low rate finance quoted saved 1400 on the rate I've been quoted elsewhere. The service pack could save somewhere close to 700.

I left a deposit today and mentioned the reg number wasn't correct in the paperwork (got the build sheet from the vin). This was cleared up when he saw from the documentation that a private plate had been removed from the car.

I came home and wondered what I could find out from the private plate. Maybe see what car it has been assigned to (still showing as 330d 2015)

On searching that reg i came across the following accounts:

Mixcloud
Instagram
ebay
Pintaram
easygram
+ few more
Same profile picture numerous times
Loads of hashtags of the reg/id in various social media

All the accounts are based in Cumbria and have a common theme: BMW modifications. I'm sure I've found the previous owner.

Now.... since i haven't even seen a picture of the car, i feel a bit apprehensive. What if it's been pimped to the max. I want blend, not stand out. What has been done to it? Mapped? Springs?

It's sort of thrown up more questions than answers. Would you drop him a message through ebay or just wait to see it?

The dealership have confirmed I can have a deposit refund if it doesn't meet my requirements (distance selling).

It's sometimes better not to know

I would certainly contact him, why not. Better that than doubts and questions in a few months time.

+1 Message him

They wouldn't have anything to hide I would of thought as they are no longer the owner.

Hopefully what the dealer and the previous owner say both marry up

I sent a pm and got a response within 30 minutes asking how I've managed to trace him through his eBay account.

After explaining, he said that it was owned from new and recently sold it to the dealer. No issue with car except for 1 alloy in need of refurb. No modifications as the looks and performance were more than enough for him..

So... We wait and see. Hopefully it will be a positive outcome.

but has anyone else noticed that iOS predictive text has got a lot worse ? Most of the time the proposed words don't even have the same number of letters that I've typed.

FFS. Drives me mad.

Watsey. It wasnt predictive text on my part,.... I typed the thread on a phone at 3.30am struggling to keep my eyes open.

I'm using swiftkey on a android and it does thrown up some strange ones but it also great as you can type without lifting your ginger from the screen. You don't even need to be that accurate.
