Some of the Model year 13's 335i's did get the N55 with the electronic waste gate system that gets the new MPPK. It was the very butt end of the of the last productions at the end of May 2013. To be sure you have that engine version you would have to check your engines Plant Integration Level (PIL) code by taking your keyfob to the dealer and getting a print-out of your BMW's info. PIL's of F020-13-03-500 and up got the new PPK with a 35hp and 32tq bump, buuuuut...... the new PPK will cost an average of $500 more then the old one.

Just got MPPK installed on my 2014 335i xDrive yesterday. Night and day difference in throttle response. When the car was stock, the pedal always felt like it was trying to hold me back, now it has a smooth powerful acceleration. Definitely feels faster, but nothing to gawk over. I would highly recommenced it due the difference in drive-ability. Was able to work out a deal for MPPK and install for $1370 out the door.

Ugh, you guys are killing me! My car was made in May 2013! If I can get the higher end MPPK, I'll pick it up...but if I'm only looking at 20 hp, there's no way it's worth it to me. Guess I'll have to go to the dealer tomorrow to have them look it up.

Isn't the down pipe of the engines that take the new MPPK a 1/2 inch larger too?

OMFG...am I reading this right?

My PIL is F020-13-03-503 !!!!!!!!!!! 503!

Meaning I get the 35 hp kit?

Went to my BMW dealer and they merely quoted the 07/2013 before or after date for the correct kit. I mentioned what we've discussed here, and how getbmwparts is specific in requesting PIL...but they don't think it matters at all.

getbmwparts.com confirmed that I need to purchase the more recent MPPK...however I might have to find a different BMW dealer to order the right part. They seem certain that I need the older model. And if they are that certain about something they're likely wrong about...do I want to take my car there?

Munich programs each MPPK to a particular VIN through DME encryption, and then sends the program over their servers to the individual dealer. I doubt that the local dealer will install the wrong software since they have to get the software from headquarters every time they install it.

I didn't actually think they would install the wrong part...I'm more just displeased at their lack of knowledge on the subject. Part of me just wants to challenge them and order the MPPK at the quoted 1100 dollars...and hope when the correct package comes in they honor that price. idk

They didn't originally know there were different kits.

What ever you decide to go with, good luck. I ended spending 1700 Euro on my MPPK when it was all said and done.

Yeah, that is funny. But my car in Sport + mode isn't appreciably slower than my E92 M3 DCT was - at least up to 80 mph or so. And it is scary quick "out of the hole", up to about 30 mph.
LOL
