cable and coding
Hi,
I've just ordered a 420i with the ZNP professional media package, but not the enhanced Bluetooth. Please can someone tell me where to get a coding cable from in the UK? And is it safe to code the enhanced Bluetooth option to my car, to get the voice control? I've just read the 11 page thread where a few people have lost connected drive after trying this, which worries me. There's lots of talk of 6xx options in that thread but I don't really understand what it all means, and my order form doesn't have any of those option codes anyway. Any help appreciated, thanks. |

I have Pro media but not EBT in my April build F32. Voice control and BT audio streaming both worked without any need for coding. I believe they are standard build now with Pro media, but I wouldn't be surprised if your dealer told you something different...
I suggest you wait until you get your car and try it - you'll probably get a pleasant surprise and save yourself the cost of a cable. |

Hi jono, thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to need to code EBT though as I need 2 phones connected to the car (work and personal), and could really use the email display / creation option too.

Very easy to do! Even I managed it! I thought it hadn't worked as it seemed too simple but all the additional menus appeared.
Now I get my emails appearing and it can read them out, plus I can add more than one phone and stream music from my phone. I ordered my F30 before I was a regular on this forum so wasn't aware that the professional media system in the F30 did not have enhanced Bluetooth as standard like my MY2011 F10. This was a must for me as on road most days. Very convenient and sorted for the price of an OBDII cable. But never press the "restore factory settings" as you will brick your car! Other than this you cannot damage the car from coding. Perhaps just stop something from working properly! Dickie |
