I want to order a 440i GC

Hi All new member so sorry if this is naive, I'm ready to get a new car and have decided I want to move form my M235i to a 440GC.

I went to see the dealer I have used for my last 2 cars and got to a satisfactory deal for the spec I want + covering of a bit of negative equity in mine (its only 2 years old and on BMW Select).

Things now seem to have stalled, I don't really understand why - I'm willing to put a deposit down, increase my monthly payments and get a new car - it should be easy??

Reading around trying to make sense of LCI releases, dealer allocations is confusing, does anyone have any experience of a similar situation?

Also should I be talking to other dealers from other groups in my area to see if they can get me an order?

Thanks in advance!

Always talk to other dealers! Be shameless in playing them off against each other. I got my car as a factory order in 5 weeks recently. I simply told them if they couldn't get me the car before Christmas I wasn't buying. I found one that had ordered a 430i GC as a demo that was about to go to build and they managed to change the order (apparently BMW are always willing to be flexible for an upgrade to a more expensive model!) to a 440i GC to my chosen spec and give me the slot. And that was with 20% discount too...

Try other dealers for sure, especially to ensure you beat the April deadline.

My dealer was great, very upfront and clear throughout the process and found me a build slot very quickly (I was ordering in July for September delivery). So my recommendation is to give Dave Thompson a call at Blue Bell Crewe.

PS. Fantastic choice of car

If it helps I ordered a 440i Convertible on Saturday - and was told no more are being built. So it's only cars already in the build system, and apparently that's for GC, Coupe and Vert. That meant I have had to take the closest spec in the system which had been ordered through another BMW dealer but not sold - and I only had a choice of 4!!

I wanted to get my car before the April tax change, so not sure if the 'no new builds' applies to all cars or just those to be delivered before April.

Sounds like I got mine just in time. Ordered 3 weeks ago and due for delivery mid March.

Thanks, the dealer told me there was a hold (probably due to the LCI release tomorrow) and there were no build slots for 440i anywhere - that actually may be legit now seeing the BMW instgram and other social media, I'll see what tomorrow brings when they are due to have the info.....

I made my factory order on December the 2nd and I was told then it would be here before April but not a guarantee as the engine shortages on the 40i.

I have a delivery date of 10th of March according to the genius! Cannot wait to get in the 440. I have not even test drove one! I only tested the M4 but wouldn't part with the kind of money they wanted. It just was not worth £300 more than a 440 in my eyes!

Quite right, plus an extra £100 a month in petrol, plus a bit more in insurance, servicing etc. I've driven both (see my M4 or 440 thread) - you will not be disappointed.

EDIT - apologies, you have seen the thread, you posted on it!

I test drove a Cayman 718, a 4.7 Aston V8 Vantage and a Merc C63, liking - but not loving - them. Drove the 440i - instantly loved it!

And the deals....they're virtually giving them away! Prob why you can't get one now

What was wrong with the other cars? Too fast?

Don't want to hijack the thread, but for what they cost vs the deal you could get on the 440i it just didn't stack up...the Vantage was a massive dissapointment.

Would have prob had the Cayman, but in Dec you were looking at Q3 17 delivery and my Golf R goes back in June.

And being in a BMW felt like coming home after my previous e92 coupe and e46 M3. I loved that M3....

I remember the thread. Did you not have an M4 and going to a 440?

Don't get me wrong I would of loved the M but no good having it and not being able to have the lifestyle I currently have. I'm sure the 440i will be plenty powerful on these London roads.

That is also what was in my mind. The bumps and holes are a joke!

Can't wait, it's like the clocks have stopped!

No, I've got a 428 and was undecided where to go next. Opted for 440 and likewise can't wait. Got a big trip to the south of France planned for June so roll on summer!

Speak to the ONLY dealer worth dealing with, ie Tony Lewis (TRL) TRLdeals@outlook.com

Most of us on here have bought from him, he does the best deals and with great service!

I definitely wouldn't be getting my car before April through TRL, I e-mailed him at the end of December and still not heard anything. Needless to say I didn't wait around.

true. but I had been told that Cayman would arrive in March but it was way back at the beginning of October.
But I made a different choice this time, didn't like a new/old car and went elsewhere. for what I read in different magazines I should be happy. collection on Fri

sure I have read what it is but remind us....

EDIT - found it, C43 coupe. Also would probably be my choice if they were like for like costs but the significant price difference and the current issues with the 4matic cars and low speed manouevring would have me looking elsewhere - and probably back to BMW....
