From Bib Stillwell. Yes the car, I think, was already on the boat. As my spec was fairly standard with a popular colour I was able to get a car already made. So I'm lucky.

Be patient, kashfc, its worth the wait. I can't wipe the smile off my face when I drive it (particularly in sport mode)

Wow, sounds like you're already doing better than me. How have you managed to get a quote for $80k OTR? don't they make you sign a contract for each offer you make?

Plan on four months I reckon. If you ordered mid-May, I reckon you're up for early September. Late August if you're lucky.

My order was late April and I'm looking at mid-August at best - it starts getting built next week!

Hi all, I'm a first timer to this forum. Great to see such interest and passion. I have just ordered on the weekend my very first BMW, an F30 328i sport line (Melbourne).

Mineral White
Coral Red Interior
Variable sport steering
M sport suspension
Comfort access
Rear view camera
Electric sunroof
Heating for the front seats
Headlights: Bi Xenon, Adaptive, Headlight Washer System, High Beam Assist
Head Up Display
Extended Connectivity Bluetooth/USB
Instrument Cluster with Extended Contents
Window Tint
Sport line key pouch
BMW car mats
BMW Corporate EPP, including the Free Servicing, 4yrs/60,000km

$80,000 on road. ETA late August, hopefully.

The final price was based on negotiation and June being the last month for the financial year.

Congrats to the guys who have put there orders in, for those who are soon about to pull the trigger you must remember there is always a dealer ready to give you at least 10% off after on roads. Trivett classic and the other popular one being Worthington's are dealers better known for discounting. In 2008 i had one of the first msports e92 335's and i got 10% off at a time where 95% of dealers told me demand exceeds supply so pay full or get lost.

Well I took the plunge and put my order in...

328i
Alpine white
M-Sport package
Digital radio
Bi-Xenon lights
Floor Mats
Model deletion
4yrs/60,000km included free servicing (free loan car when in service too)

came to $76,492 OTR. quite happy with it now...

only question I had was... Tyre & Rim insurance.. is it worth taking? I read the pds and I says it's cover tyre blowouts and kerb rash.. but I've read differently about it here on these forums? Anyone have it taken out? made claims or had dealings with this insurance?

You guys should push a lot harder on your deals, I compare my build and price to yours and I reckon there's plenty of room to move.

Whats a good rule of thumb to know you're making a low but not unrealistic offer? Any idea of margins they work with?

I didn't get a good deal and yet my salesman keeps going on about how they are making a small loss on the car they have sold me.... obviously not accurate compared to the prices being achieved by you guys.

I calculated that I got roughly 10% off the driveway price, although they tried to tell me I was asking for 13%-15% based on their inflated prices (dealer RRP a few grand higher than BMW Aust website).

Hmmm... so how much should I have settled for with my build then? I'm still happy overall but curious what you think my build should be priced at?

I looked at all the posts and I cannot see your quote or build. Can you point me to it so I can compare.

Sales people are in sale because they're generally good at what they do. The ones that aren't good don't last.

As for the rule of thumb, I start at 10% and push from there. I'd be surprised if BMW is making a loss.

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687244

I made a promise not to disclose price (and the dealers do read these forums), so I made my comment about pushing harder when I saw what you were paying and your option list.

At the end of the day, if you're getting what you want for a price you're prepared to pay/ finance then all's well that ends well.

And if you did disclose the price, what would they do? You signed a contract, paid your deposit. Do you expect the dealer to cancel if you disclose your purchase price? Just because you state the price doesn't mean anything.

I also played along with the verbal do not disclose price game with my dealer. Absolute rubbish, childish playtime in my opinion. Unless you signed a non disclosure agreement, the everything else is 'fair game'.

If they let you drive a new car out of their showroom at your agreed price, they are prepared to do the same again.

Of course they want you to brag. A sale is a sale is a sale! They might make up for less profit from servicing your car if you take it to the dealer. Otherwise they really want the world to know. Which for profit organisation doesn't?

Besides, although I forced my dealer down on price by a reasonable amount, I'm sure I could do even better today. Still, the deal is done and my M-Sport hasn't even been allocated a production number yet. Supposedly August build.

Cheers

I see your point David, but I said I wouldn't and in my view my word still counts for something.

Chris - not sure why the 335's are less prevalent. Maybe just not as popular given the price differential?
