Hopefuly they will be an upgrade for MY2014/2015 (pre LCI) F30.

And finally we will have Waze and Carplay, please push Google/Apple with a comment via the official Waze forum to enable the App to Carplay! :-)

I don't see a retrofit coming to F3x cars...the screen isn't really in a position to be touched. From talking to friends who have it and use it, it seems half baked as-is anyway. Hopefully when I'm in the market for a G2x it will have improved and BMW will skip the USB-only version and include WiFi support.

You can get the retrofit idea out of your head. You will need a new car.... There is .0000000001% chance ( and that's high ) that you'll get a retrofit CarPlay option from BMW.

I used to hear that from the BlackBerry crowd and texting.. "How will you be able to text without a physical keyboard..."

Technology will change your perception over time and advancements on this issue as well.

FWIW CarPlay was designed to be used via touch or via controllers (like iDrive). iDrive control would be fine with me, but I assume that since the new 7er has touch capability, other model lines will get it as well.

It would be nice if BMW would allow use of it via iDrive as now that I'm used to it I really prefer it over touch screens.

Touch screens are horrific in cars. I have one in my Land Rover. You HAVE to take your eyes off the road to do everything. You can't just take a quick glance and then find a fingertip sized button or icon. Hit a bump when your touching and oops, you just pressed the wrong XY coordinate. And talk about a fingerprint magnet. Thankfully, it seems like the article was saying they would keep the iDrive controller.

Agreed. It's way to distracting vs systems like the idrive

Hopefully carplay can be made to work on NBT-EVO in the 2016 F30.
