435i GC - Adaptive Suspension vs "stock"
Hi all,
I'm currently negotiating with a local dealer for an F36. Just last week I test drove one with the M PERFORMANCE I and II packages (I'm in Canada). I really liked the ride which was quite a bit smoother than my current X3 M Sport with a "sport suspension". However, the only F36 available now is missing the M packages - so no Adaptive Suspension. Is the "stock" suspension on the 435i firmer than one equipped with the AS? As I read the description of it, it would seem that the AS, at least in "comfort" mode (which I assume is the default?), would be smoother than the stock suspension. Is that right? I am trying to track down a non-M vehicle to test drive - the one in question is en route to my local dealer so I can't try it. Thanks!

If I was in your shoes I would deff get adaptive suspension, but it also depends on your commute. if you are in traffic and locals streets you wont notice a diff, if you have some curvy roads then its deff worth it.
I had it in my X6 and noticed a difference, in eco and comfort it was the "standard" suspension and in sport, sport + it stiffens up and a rougher ride.

I just find that the M adaptive suspension makes the car feel much more solid and well put together. The damping in my opinion feels less jiggly and more solid in absorbing the bumps. I think it is a must. on the crappy Toronto roads.

Order the car you know you want! You won't be as happy if you don't!

I am in Canada too. The price for M1 pck is very low, just letting you know an after market M adaptive suspension will cost over $3k where the M1 pck is only like $2.5k with a lot of extra, if I remember it correctly.

Definitely go for the AS, and if it's in the budget get the M 2 Performance Package as well, you won't regret it. The AS has a noticeable difference in ride between the comfort mode and sport/+ modes. And with adaptive steering that makes for a different feel as well.
When I have clients in my vehicle the comfort mode is perfect, nice smooth acceleration, smooth on bumpy surfaces and no exhaust burbles. When it's just myself the sport and sport + modes are the way to go! |

I came from an X3 M Sport (non-adaptive suspension). Found it WAY too uncomfortable, really bouncy. Ordered the F36 (M Sport) with adaptive and it's night and day. Feels like you float over the roads in comfort, but you can have the "bounce" back when in Sport(+). Maybe it's also to do with getting into my 40's, but I can't imagine ever not having adaptive again.
