Quick talk about options on this 2014 335i

I am looking at this car: http://www.knauzbmw.com/certified/BM...8102118a69.htm

It lists the upgraded premier sound, which I like. It's m-sport as well. Has the adaptive m suspension and navigation professional.

Couple questions:

1) Is the adaptive m suspension equivalent to DHP or do I need to find a m-sport with that option?

2) Navigation professional is considered standard navi or part of tech package? Basically, what does tech package give me past HUD and is it worth trying to find?

Thanks for your time!

Mike

That car has xdrive, I don't see the adaptive suspension button near the shifter, and it should be there as far as I know. Unless it's DHP, the xdrive suspension will override anything else, i.e. mine is a sport line xdrive, but it has xdrive suspension, so it sits higher, is more floaty and softer.

In 2014 you could order navi without the tech package. So like me, you'll have nav with the extended cluster but no HUD.

Thanks for the info.

I just read the ad where it does say it is DHP, so I am a little confused. Looking at the vin lookup, it does have active m suspension and variable sport steering, so it should be DHP then? Weird it wouldn't have the button near the shifter though.

I'm confused here.

ON EDIT: Also, the harmon kardon stereo is considered the top or no? S688A.

I might be making the button thing up; that could only be in higher series or maybe it's from an M series, but it's just sticking out in my head for some reason.

In the US, the base stereo is HiFi (standard) and HK is the premium option, so if it has HK then it has the highest option for the 3 series.

The other possibility is that eco-comfort-sport are what determine the suspension, and as mentioned, the 3 may not get that dedicated button that I'm thinking of. It certainly says it in the VIN sheet, I doubt that would be wrong.

OK great, thank you.

Last question would be about the navigation. Have any info on this? It has navigation professional. What am I missing without the tech package, other than HUD?

Thanks!

I am not sure what you're saying here...
The Adaptive M suspension has no button. Cannot be turned off with a console button if an option. It is a set of sensors that adapt suspension every X milli-seconds.

OP, the Adaptive M Suspension was an option ($700) with he M-Sport package or a part of DHP (along with variable steering)

NAV could also be ordered as a stand alone option or as a part of Technology Package (includes HUD)

I think you're good. If it was missing things like S6NRA, S6AKA, S6APA you'd be missing on enhanced Bluetooth, etc. but I think you've got a build similar to mine - I have remote services, connected drive apps, etc.. I have everything but the HUD.

OK, thanks. You've been a great help. I can do without the HUD so that's no a big deal to me. Just want to make sure I'm not missing other things as well.

I'm planning on checking the car out tomorrow, so we will see how it goes.

Yeah, definitely give it a look re: the adaptive suspension. Since there is no dedicated button check the drive mode settings, it adaptive suspension is there then you should be able to tweak things a little.

I know it adapts; but I thought you could modify how it behaves somewhere, that's why I was skeptical and thought there should be a button.. I know the "shock" button is on M cars, wasn't sure if it would be the same on a DHP equipped car.

But it sounds like that settles it; there is no button for it, any customization is done via iDrive, and even then, some of that is only available in the latest integration level (where you can say, have comfort mode use sport suspension).

I almost bought this car. It's a good deal, though I ended up passing for another vehicle that I'm (hopefully) picking up next week. Note that the car does NOT have the Tech Package (Heads-up Display), which I was looking for. It is also (obviously) X Drive, which I really didn't want. I was also looking for the 403M wheels.

Anyway, yes, it does have the Adaptive M Suspension and the Variable Sport Suspension, as noted in the VIN lookup. Those are bundled together and sold as the "Dynamic Handling Package" in the U.S. market.

The interesting thing you need to know, which won't show up on the VIN lookup, is that the current owner, an employee at the dealer, has added the M Performance Exhaust and a LOT of M Carbon Fiber accessories - full interior trim, mirror caps AND the CF M Performance shifter. Very unique!

VERY nice car...on some levels I regret passing on it. I actually prefer Alpine White (mine is EB). Good luck, and post back here to let us know if you opt for it!

Which DHP button??

I have xDrive, DHP, M-susp, blah, blah, blah and there's no button for DHP next to the shifter.

Top button is traction control off, then driving mode button, then front side camera button, and then parking distance button...nothing for DHP.

Guys, there's NO DHP button! Only the driving mode button, which is present on every F30. The only way you know if the car has DHP is by navigating to the mode settings to see if "Chassis" is an option, or if you have the build sheet.

Yeah, sorry for the misinformation everyone. I recall seeing a suspension button in some of the cars I was looking at while waiting for service, and for whatever reason decided that if it had DHP it had that button. I think it's exclusive to M models only.

I have the Tech package and the HUD is the option I would skip next time. Will be much more "interesting" option in a few years when they integrate more (useful) things

So, how did your assessment of the car turn out and how was your experience with Knauz?

Car was nice. I was surprised that the m performance exhaust was so quiet. It seemed pretty much like stock to me. Also couldn't believe that it had the parktronic but no backup camera. Should be a given for a car at this price point. Overall, nice car. Biggest issue is that I am unsure if it is the right car for me. Still debating this vs a 550i.

I didn't think you could get the manual transmission with xDrive?

Tech Pkg only adds HUD over the Nav Pkg.

There's no backup camera? Because the picture from the link you posted shows the park distance control button--and when I go on the BMW website to try and add park distance control as a standalone option, it forces me to add the Driver Assistance Pkg with the back up camera.

Small correction: Just because there is a 'Chassis' option in iDrive sport mode settings does NOT mean the car has adaptive suspension. I have an '15 F32 w/o DHP or adaptive M suspension, and my iDrive sport mode settings have both steering and chassis. Obviously, the chassis selection does nothing, but it's still there.

If the car has front/rear parking sensors, then it has the backup camera. You probably just pressed the sensors button by the shifter which only activates the sensors. You have to go into reverse to activate the rear view camera.

And, if you press the button for the parking sensors, and push the iDrive controller to the left, the top menu choice should be to select the backup camera.
