I always do.. my car always turns out perfect, save for the tire shine they put on.. that stuff is a dust magnet.

Hate to be a contrarian, but in the last several years I've never let any dealership I've bought a new BMW from do any kind of cosmetic prep to my car, whether it's in for service or just off the boat. The dealer porters or lot boys who do the wash/dry are great, hardworking folks, but they are not given either the process or the tools to do the best job. I'm not talking about deep scratches, but ultra thin, spider web scratches in the clear coat that ultimately defuse the light and reduce the paint gloss as it comes from the factory. You can count on this when your lot boy washes or dries your car, just like the 20 or so BMWs he's done that day previous to yours, maybe with the same microfiber towel.
My advice, get one of these - http://www.detailedimage.com/DI-Acce...Hang-Tag-P897/, and whenever you have the car in for service, hang it up, and make sure the work order that you sign includes the following in all caps: DO NOT WASH! Sadly, sometimes even that is not enough - http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-P...day-05-17-2014

That free car wash isn't free.
The ONE and only time my S2000 went to the dealership (tail light recall) I got a free car wash and free water spots on my black car. The same dealership has only ever seen the wife's MDX for recalls, nothing else, EVER. |
