SatNav has gone very slow

My satnav has gone very slow recently, takes ages to plan a route and also slow if I go a different way to what it suggests.

I have not updated any software

Anyone else having any issues??

Yes, having exactly the same issue. Also takes an age to drop guidance after you stop it. very strange.

I have the same problem with RTTI causing the system to grind to a halt.

I find that previous journeys will not load and its very slow at plotting route and executing turn instructions.

Spoke to dealer and arranged for car to go in under warranty as it was an issue BMW are aware of. My dealer has been advised to roll back the maps and await an update from BMW in the future. In addition the dealer has been told by BMW not to do any 2018 updates pending the new rollout.

Car went in but all went wrong, the rollback wouldn't install due the icontroller having been replaced by the previous owner with the wrong type.

Now waiting for a replacement controller to start the process again.

If its not one thing its another.

Mine was the same in March. Desperately slow. Taking over 2 minutes to recalculate a re-route (!!!). That was after I updated the maps too

In March (see evdok's link) the BMW RTTI site was down/having issues.

It's all fine now.

Very similar experience. Car was fine on the 2018-1 map until I renewed RTTI and then the sat-nav was terrible thereafter. I e-mailed Connected Drive, they advised to update the services, which did not work, but over the following weeks, the sat-nav gradually got better, but I would not say it's perfect. Although I raised the ticket ages ago, I got this from them just last week, but have not had chance to see if it has helped:

I can confirm that our ConnectedDrive have sent updates to your car and the RTTI function should have improved. Can I recommend performing a service update, to refresh these recent updates. This is done using your iDrive controller;

• Press ‘Menu’ button
• Click on ‘ConnectedDrive’
• Click ‘Options’ button (next to your iDrive controller)
• Scroll & select ‘Update BMW services’ click to update

If you’re still experiencing an outage of this service, can you please provide a rough area of where this happens and the time and date. This will help me localise your problem to a specific arear and provide a solution.
