F30 M Sport - Timeline Purchase..help!!

For those who have there new toys and for those given prospective dates..

So that members can get an idea on the average timeline from order to delivery could you lovely people please answer as many of the following questions as possible..

1. Lag time from placing order to confirmed BW?

2. The actual time your car was in Production?

3. The time taken to ship your car from Germany to the UK?

4. The time taken for all PDI checks to be completed to actual handover day..?

Cheers

Ordered mine early, took about 14-15 weeks to arrive. Thought now that production had been ramped up they were coming thru quicker, but these M Sport's seem to be taking a while?

I can only answer the first two questions thus far...
1. Ordered Aug 19th so week 34, BW confirmed one week later to be W45 ie 11 weeks post order (mainly due to specifying must have new pro nav which is w45 build in saloon and BMW slow to tool factory for RHD xdrive)
2. Went into build 5.11.12 (code 5055), departed plant on 8.11.12 (code 9000) so build time three days. This thread from f10 forum helps decipher BMW build codes http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432269
3. TBC - Left port on 12.11.12 estimate around 1w
4. TBC - I am told once it lands at Southampton dealer can register it in my name and ought to be at dealership max 1 week and can be turned around in 48 hours. I know they are keen to see the back of me before the end of the month, in a nice way I hope!

Yep in my case the string has "gone to Germany and back so many times I have lost count".
I'm thinking of what to buy next and this car is not even here yet, almost lost interest in it all together.

Although it's been a while now, from what I remember this is how things were for me:

I ordered on 24/5 and had an estimated BW of week 33. This was quite quick to come through, certainly within a couple of weeks. This was confirmed as status 5055 on 25/7

Car went into the paintshop on 10/8 and was released to carrier on 13/8

The car then arrived in the UK on 20/8 and was 9650 awaiting despatch to dealer on 21/8.

My car then arrived at the dealership 22/8 ready for collection on 1/9.

In total it was exactly 100 days from ordering to collection but then I think most of this was due to the M Sport not being released until the July anyway. Took a while but the wait was worth it

Thats the part of the vin that you need to register with BMW connected drive.
PS) I pick my 330D MSport up Saturday.

I am on the verge of giving up and cancelling both my orders. This initial dealership experience is not very encouraging, to say the least. They seem to be 'at sea' and hopelessley hopeless. I must admit I am a bit fedup.

Without any hesitation what so ever, if you feel that unhappy... go speak to the Dealer Principal... straight to the top. I cannot recommend this highly enough with the experience I had when I did so. You are the customer, you are buying from a brand that you pay extra for to feel special (you don't get free drinks when a ford goes in for service).

I messed around giving my sales guy a chance, not wanting to get him into trouble, letting him have the chance to sort etc.etc... I emailed my DP at 10pm a few days after Xmas asking him to ring me. He emailed me back and said "is now ok?". So I ended up speaking to the DP of the UK's most profitable BMW dealership 10pm odd whilst everyone in the country is on holiday. I was made to feel very special ever since. He was waiting outside for me when I went to the dealership, I was put into the most expensive car they had on site. etc. etc.

I guarantee things will start moving, answers will start coming once you do.

Mat

My dealer did it for me the first time I bought a car with this technology. I believe you can do it here:

I second this from my experience. Despite having bought cars from the same dealership, first two salesmen wouldn't have enough IQ to sell the 'Big Issue' (no offence to 'Big Issue sellers'). Had given up but was so angry emailed General Sales Manager. He not only got a deal out of me but I have it on good authority that they both got a right royal bollocking and neither one will look me in the eye now, makes me smile (I'm immature).

All I was given was a sequential production no which starts with the letter 'A' and followed by a few numbers.

Have a look at this:

Why would you want to register the car any earlier than the day you collect it? The warranty, tax etc would start from that day wouldn't it?

I had a dealer try and force me to do this as they wanted to hit their end month number but I refused.

You need the form which you fill in on the web site (BMW assist) but you will need a reg No: to go with it as it's a requirement.
Once you've filled in the form BMW will contact you with a name and pass word (which you can change) just enter it and edit all the details you want.
