Hi Shawn - would you mind helping me diagnose some errors getting with a new install?

I've installed the latest Esys and Psdzdata files onto a Windows 7 laptop and I'm seeing errors:

Mainly when clicking 'read SVT' I get a Psdzdata error.

Sometimes it reads OK but I then see an error when reading coding data.

Other times it doesn't even find the vehicle VIN to connect in the the first place.

All works fine on the old laptop with old program and data files so it's either something related to the new software configuration or the laptop. I have a suspicion it's an intermittent connection issue.

Any ideas? Images of errors attached.

Your connection target settings are most likely wrong.

Select "TargetSelector:Project=F020-xx-xx-xxx, VehicleInfo=F020"

Do NOT select the Target with the "_DIRECT" suffix (e.g. TargetSelector:Project=F020-xx-xx-xxx, VehicleInfo=F020_DIRECT).

In the "Open Connection" window under "Interface" select "Connection via VIN".

In the "Open Connection" window under "vehicle-specific parameter (optional)" select "Series, I-Step Shipment", and leave the two Dropdown boxes blank.

Do NOT select "Read parameters from VCM".

In the "Open Connection", select "Connect" button.

Thank you,

So those errors indicate a connection issue rather than setup problem or corrupt files?

Reason for asking, I've already tried what you suggest but sometimes don't get that far with 'connect with VIN' occasionally being unavailable. Following the install guide, even the ENET config step sometimes fails to find the car.

I wonder if this could be an issue with this being a newer PC 'managing' the Ethernet port power and sending it into powersave or something.

Any other ideas?

I've tried it running and with ignition only; same result.

Interestingly the ZGW_SEARCH application seems only to find the vehicle intermittently also. I'm leaning towards a computer hardware issue (I've tried it with two HDDs, Windows 7 and Windows 10 - again, same result).

I'm thinking I should re-download a fresh copy of E-Sys - can you please PM me with the very latest versions of everything?

That is normal behavior for ZGW_SEARCH, which besides being complete unnecessary for S-Sys, is the main reason it is no longer included in E-Sys package.

Hi Shawn,

I've properly set-up e-sys with pszdata v54.1

However my F22 M235i is from 11/2014 and V54.1 seems outdated.

I've some errors about missing CAFD files for FEM_BODY & HU_NBT.

In the meantime, I was able to code Digital Speed to Kombi.

Do you have the following CAFD files:

FEM_BODY:
CAFD_00000794_012_035_117

HU_NBT:
CAFD_00000DED_003_013_025

??

It would be nice to activate Auto Start/Stop memory...

Many thanks in advance!

These two CAFD are not part of any PSdZData release.

You can inject the following replacement CAFD's into the ECU's, VO Code them, and then you can FDL Code them:

FEM_BODY - cafd_00000794.caf.012_035_116
HU_NBT - cafd_00000ded.caf.003_013_024

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on desired ECU => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from above => Select OK => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Afterwards you will be able to FDL Code ECU.

Ok Thank you Shawn.

On the other hand, do you have an idea when next psdzdata release will be issued?

No, but if you are making an assumption that these two CAFD files will be in it and are waiting on it, that may be the case or it may not be the case. We have seen before with other CAFD files that car's received during production where those same CAFD files never appeared in any later PSdZData release. So you can wait and hope if you like, or just inject the replacement CAFD files into the ECU's as I wrote above. It has already been tested on several car's and it works fine.

.xml error is usually incorrect Connection parameters.

On E-Sys Toolbar Press the "Connect" Button and in the "Open Connection" window under "Target", select desired Target Vehicle based on car's Chassis.
(e.g. "TargetSelector:Project=F020-xx-xx-xxx, VehicleInfo=F020")

*NOTE: Do NOT select the Target with the "_DIRECT" suffix (e.g. TargetSelector:Project=F010-xx-xx-xxx, VehicleInfo=F020_DIRECT).

In the "Open Connection" window under "Interface" select "Connection via VIN".

In the "Open Connection" window under "vehicle-specific parameter (optional)" select "Series, I-Step Shipment", and leave the two Dropdown boxes blank.

*NOTE: Do NOT select "Read parameters from VCM".

Thanx Shawn,
But I succeeded other module e.g. FEM_Body,HU_NBT...
