Four bangers can sound good sometimes...

Man I hear what you're saying but think about the original E30 M3. The 4 in that sounds pretty damn good. I'm hoping the new turbo 4 sounds meaty with a nice exhaust and a chip.

Acceleration: Rev-limited to 3,800 rpm with ESC on. No limit (besides redline) with it off. Seems relatively indifferent to launch technique. Only a few hundredths separate clutch dump from careful modulation by 60 mph. Shifter is less likable when rushed in this environment. Engine is done at 6,500.

Braking: Confident pedal every stop but fade (+/- 6 feet) is present. Not the best braking in the segment.

Handling:

Skid pad: Heavy steering with quite good communication at the limit. More body roll than expected makes sensing grip limits more difficult. Still, good balance. Adjustable, but slower to respond than I'd prefer.

Slalom: Ample body roll makes quick transitions feel awkward. Even so, limits are reasonably well defined. Excellent ESC produces quickest slalom time by 0.04 second.

Compared to E90 328i:

Wow, that body lean is kinda not BMW sport suspension like.

What wheels and tires are those?
The wheels don't look like the painted black/silver 18's shown on the BMWUSA website.
The silver 19's are only available on the 335i, and those are staggered with wider tires in the rear than what the 328i sport line gets.

The tire compounds weren't equal here, I don't believe.
The E90 has all season tires, and the F30 has summer performance tires.
Also, the F30 here has the sport suspension, but the E90 doesn't.

Tires for sure, and suspension adds, to overall braking.
Plus, acceleration is also affected by tire compound.
So, overall, this test isn't the best to show the differences between the two, or least the numbers may be a bit closer. Could be.

The tyres should be Goodyear EfficientGrip. They're Summer tyres but they're in no way performance tyres. Tirerack classify them as "Grand Touring Summer".
I think a change of tyres to either Pirelli or even Continental should redeem everything.

People in Europe pay way more on their cars than they do in the US. Salaries are comparable, if not better in the US. Why? Because you pay a LOT less tax here and get to keep a lot more in your pocket. The price tag before taxes in Europe is not much different from what it is in the US but after taxes they pay at least $30K-$40K more. This while they do make less money than in the US. I'm really sorry but those numbers mean a lot. And while you might not think so, but to many people over there €70K does feel like $100K feels over there, if not more. You obviously have no idea.

More 'entry level' BMW's in Europe than in the States? Not where I come from. In the Netherlands, and many other countries in Europe, people mostly drive in compact cars simply because they cannot pay for a BMW, and simply because the price of gas and road taxes is way too high in order to maintain said BMW. As a matter of fact, I have not ever seen so many BMW's in a place as since I lived here in Hawaii, it's almost as if everyone can drive one here. Perhaps you're right in the total amount of BMW's that is driving there, that could be, but don't forget Europe is much bigger and that there is about 3 times more people living in Europe so it's easy to chance the numbers to your own benefit in this.

Seeing your misplaced sarcasm I can only conclude you missed my point when I said something about affording a 7 series. What I said has nothing to do with what I can but all with the fact that not everyone wants a higher luxury car even if they can. Nothing else. And, honestly, that was also the sole reason I made my initial reply to you.
You're last paragraph there has me lost.

Sarcasm?
You responded to my post, which was to someone else about what they said, specifically about wanting more luxury items.
If you feel my comment upsets you, that's your issue not mine.
I can not apologize for something I didn't do. YOU decided to step in it.

Reading your comments shows me that you didn't read and understand my point, at all.
Insulting me with telling me that I "have no idea", tells me that I probably don't need, nor want, to discuss this with you any further.
You'll choose to misunderstand my points just so you can twist it and go on another rant, as you've already done.

Let's just be friendly at this point and agree to misunderstand each other and move along. Deal?
Thanks.

My last paragraph got you lost? You're saying there was no sarcasm in your line of "btw how nice that we now all know.. etc"? If that's indeed what you're saying then, yes, apparently I did misunderstood that part as I clearly read it as something that was written in a sarcastic way. However, I can't say it upset me, if it did, I would've replied quite differently, all I did was trying to explain something to you.

I could say quite a few things about the rest of your post but I feel I shouldn't. I'll skip to the last lines of your post instead and say that, sure, I'll leave it be for the sake of keeping the peace. As a matter of fact, did you chose not to reply to my earlier post, I would've done that already.
