Like I said I did a lot of research before, I purchased the car, especially since i am paying $50k+ on something i have never driven. I know the car is a great car and have owned BMWs in the past. I really wanted to know what people are finding annoying about the car like the center consol, i have heard of the creaking complaints this is the first im hearing of it coming from the dash. Now I can start to look for this when i take delivery and posibly have a solution in mind or at least be mentally prepared for it so i am not overly dissappointed.

My only dislike is that the backup cam comes on when reversing and I can not get it to default to the top view cams. My 335 f30 had this option and I miss that every day...
Other than that, a great car!!

whoops...
The center console is 10mil deep and may as well be deleted Run flats .. no spare 'auto' rev match .. thankfully disabled or I'd have sold the car Poor handling for how harsh the ride is ... missing some stiffening somewhere and the stock dampers feel like I got them from AutoZone Engine/transmission mounts flop around a lot Clutch pedal is too soft and shifter is too notchy, long throws. Can't start in sport mode That wheel to change tracks and yes they are on wrong side Backup camera is 140p Seats are not very comfortable, thigh bolsters should move up and in Steering wheel leather is untextured Wheel bolts instead of studs and nuts No dipstick Dual climate control with no lock together mode Rear view mirror never gets dark enough / sun behind at dusk is blinding, can't do anything about it |

^^^^ pretty solid review. Agree with almost all of it, except that I happen to actually like the clutch feel and the 6MT throws.
I would add that the steering is horrible in almost every single way. Every time I get in a rental car I get a reminder of what actually having some feel to the wheel is like. |

Wow....I am surprised some of you are even in a 340i given you have so many dislikes about it; some of which were known before you acquired a 340 (no dipstick, run flats, etc). I would get rid of it if I were you................

A lot of these complaints are general BMW quarks. No reason to not want a 340i. The B58 is by far the best inline 6 in a non-M car ever. M-sport styling is a must IMO. Only thing I do not like styling wise are the stock 18 inch wheels. The stock suspension on the 340i is definitely softer/less sporty then the previous e92 335i I had. This isn't really a complaint since I use this for my daily commute. Light steering is solved with sport mode.

I agree with most everything on your list except for this. BMWs have always had hub-centric wheels, and there are advantages that outweigh the PITA factor.
What I'd complain about instead is whether or not BMW is including a wheel-hanging tool in the toolkit; they used to, but I don't know if they still do. That's a little metal rod you screw into a bolt hole, then slide the wheel over when mounting to make life easier getting that first bolt back in. I believe lots of places sell them if you need one and BMW didn't include one in the toolkit. |

I'll temper your excitement: the steering feel is so atrocious I stopped daily driving it after five months. Now my wife chugs along in it and I take it out once a week to open up that sweet, sweet B58.

No no no. Light steering is made wooden by sport mode. There is no setting on this car no matter how optioned that fixes the awful steering. None. Look, the 340 is a great car. If you like lexuses. If you like driver invlovement, steering feel, and value then you really have to look elsewhere or maybe at the M division. The B58 is the only truly exceptional thing about the car. Everything else is invisible and unexceptional. Sorry to say it. But it is true. My 2008 6MT X3 drove with more feel, passion and personality than this poor attempt. Just feels like BMW is trying to please too broad an audience. |

I agree. I never thought I'd say this but the f30 feels cheaply made and just doesn't impress me as a whole. They market this as a driver's car .. and it needs 10k of mods and noise/rattle adds to get there.
Half of the stuff they put in is for the eco friendly mpg sticker. I get .. 23 mpg. Yes the engine is smooth but it's only fun between 55 and 7200, which due to the gearing means at least 71-80mph... space required. 3/4 throttle at 4k around town has no balls. The WRX wall of boost at 4k was in some ways a better daily. And it didn't body roll and flop around. The steering sucks but for some reason it doesn't bother me that much.. There is no hanger but I'll just make one with a threaded rod and an angle grinder. The only thing I really like about the car is the door handle and the cool air center vent. Ok and the engine at 5500+. It looks nice. Last edited by B58 parts; 12-09-2017 at 09:33 PM.. |

Let's see?
? It's too heavy ? it needs more power, the low-end torque is fun but it will wear off quickly. ? No LSD. This is a really big deal for me. I did not realize how much I miss LSD even for basic Street driving. ? Run flats, they really suck. ? Steering is numb on center ? Possessed electronics ? Cost/unreliable/depreciation |

I dislike the stock LED headlamps, wish I'd got the Adaptive and would have if the Euro version was available in the American market. Any issues I have with the steering are more than offset by the B58.

Good call on the lsd. That would be a nice add.
I think the jb4, sway bars, and some good coilovers will spin my perception around a bit. I'd like to avoid any bushings and the mounts but I suspect that is really what I want to fix. The chassis just doesn't have that solidness / tightness to it... Most of my hate is minor gripes. But it's the little stuff that can drive you nuts. |

It's funny reading threads like this. So many opposite views.
There's not much that bothers me about my 335i. It's quiet (never had squeaks), fast and handles well. I enjoy driving it every day, and will likely get another 3 series. True that there's not much steering feedback, but enough overall (including seat of the pants), that you can sense what the car is doing. |
