How's the M-Sport Line different?

Mechanically that is, i.e. brakes, and suspension... etc? (And please disregard any cosmetic looks)

Why no fog lights? And what about the M Aerodynamic kit.. What does that offer? Because website don't say..

There are no mechanical changes to the M Sport line, except for the removed fog lights.

BMW says they removed the fog lights and added additional cooling because people from the West like the race their cars. (Seriously)

The M Performance kit adds some actual functionality if you opt for the BBK (Big Brake Kit) or the M Performance Power Kit (tune). Also, there may be some very slight gains from the M Exhaust.. (negligible)

More info here: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=699610

The real pros in the M Sport line are the cosmetic and feel changes. The steering wheel probably being the most anticipated add-on; at least for me. And I like the rear bumper.

Why does the US M Sport model on display have no fog lights, unlike the European model?
For improved race capability. We need the air intakes for air. That’s why the fog lights are out. Because you have more driving on the racetracks than in Europe and you have different climate zones (some places are hotter). European models will keep their fog lights.

Another difference is the wheel/tire configuration: you get a staggered setup (8in wide with 225 tires up front, 8.5in wide with 255 tires on the rear) on the 18s with the M Sport...on the Sport Line you get a square setup on the 18s (8in wide with 225 tires) and you have to upgrade to the 19s to get a staggered setup (19s only available on the 335i in the US)

It looks like you can get the non-staggered set up w/ A/S tires as a no-cost option on M-Sport pkg too?? I'm ordering one now and trying to decide what to go with. I'm thinking the non-staggered set up will do better in the snow--but not sure. I believe pkg 2PE is standard

(See pg 10 of 10 on the 2013 3-series ordering guide--pkg 2PP for the non-staggered set up)

Correct, according to bmwusa.com configurator as well.

That is what I ordered, having second thoughts though. Not really hot on the dry performance sacrifice and the "narrow" look the square setup will give.

I might go with the 19" Staggered and just replace the tires with high performance all seasons on delivery. The car is leased so I can just remount the OEM tires when I turn her back in.

Not that it really matters much in real world driving--but when you go with non-staggered setup with all season tires you lose "840 Increased top speed limiter."

It doesn't. I've been wanting to take a survey of how many people in these forums actually drive, on a regular basis, over 125 mph. I'm sure not many. And by regular basis, I mean you have access to a track where you take your car to drive those speeds at least twice a month. I've gotten to 110 mph once in my life on a highway. And that was in a VW. Not even in the 4 BMW's I have owned. So, the speed limitation means nothing to drivers like me.

Doesn't not having the increased top speed limiter inhibited the ability to get the power kit installed when it becomes available.

Not sure if this will effect the new N55 kit BUT on the current kit--

BMW also said the kit should only be installed on the 135i and 335i equipped with option code S840 (increased top speed limiter), which includes an additional oil cooler.

Good point-- that could be disappointing if someone chose to order all season tires only to find out later that they are precluded from getting the PPK because they don't have 840.

Does anyone know if 840 includes any additional hardware on the F30 (like an additional oil cooler as mentioned above)?

The oil cooler may not be an issue BUT all season tires carry a lower top speed rating so the top speed limiter avaiailable with the summer tires could play in here. Maybe not, but it would be annoying if someone who wanted a PPK ( I could be on that list) was stopped from getting it installed for his OEM tire spec choice. I went with summer tires on my sportline as I already own BMW compatible wheels and snow tires. I would have done the same had I opted for M sport ( damn that ugly butt)
