Aftermarket "Performance Automatic Transmission" tune available?

Hey there,

I currently drive a 2015 X1 28ix Sport (not MSport). However, I rented a 2016 328i base a couple weeks back. Now I am aware that the 2016 328 comes standard with many of the old "Sport Package" features. The one I am concerned with is the Performance Automatic Transmission option. It shifts fast, clean, and oh so sporty. I love it. My X1 shifts ok in DS, but that's about it. Nowhere near as crisp as that 328.

After doing a bit of research, I discovered Dinan's Performance Automatic Transmission Software for $239. I have yet to check and see if it's what I'm looking for or even if it's compatible with my car. Does anyone here know if this would work, have used it, or know of anything like it? Considering that the 328 has the same transmission and engine as my X1, it should totally be possible, right?

Lastly, that 328 was wicked awesome! I've owned a 335, an X3, this X1, and driven almost a shit-ton of BMW's. This base model 2016 328 has been completely worked over when compared to the 2015's and drives like a damn BMW! Balance, throttle, power, steering (for the most part considering the elec), brakes, tranny, everything! What a stellar car. Great job BMW!

I'm not sure about the dinan transmission, but some people here have coded the sport auto transmission to their cars. Makes a huge difference too from reading their threads. I'm not sure if the X1 can be coded to do that, but worth it to research that option.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the 2016 328i the same engine as the 2015? I'm just assuming since it's still a 328i (any idea when the 330i will be release in the states?)

pretty sure all u need to do is 205 to 2BT coding. (also adds Sport +)

There's absolutely no difference in the transmission. Just the shifter. All N20 & N55 application have the 8HP45.

Keep in mind the X1 is based off the E90 platform so it does not have the ability to go to sport or sport+ like the F's. However, how or where would I be able to get this coded if it were able to receive the code?

PS. Although, I do believe the shifter is almost identical. I have the joystick in the X1;-)

Thank you for the link. Yes, he X1 does have the ZF 8spd. However, this tutorial is all in foreign code-talk. I will ask Alpine Tuning if they can do something like this. Otherwise, it will take a bit more of the lower end of the curve to learn.

What do u mean by performance automatic transmission?

Are u referring to something similar to the alpina flash?

Or take a look at this:
