Icon led headlights and just led headlights

On my Upcoming 4 series, I have the adaptive led highlights, they just happened to be specced on the car I'm buying.

But what is the difference between these and the icon LEDs icon headlights on the LCI 3 series....

Am I be thick in asking what they mean by icon.... They don't actually show a batman style bmw icon on the road in front...do they?? Haha

I think it's just the design of the lights that differs perhaps a different running light design?

The day time running lights on 4 series are circular, whereas the 3 series is similar to the new dtr lights on 7 series

I have Adaptive LEDs on mine.

With the DRLs you get the flat bottomed halo rings and eyebrow illuminated.

Also there are there LED orange sidelights permanently lit on the side rear of the headlight unit, the only shame is that the eybrow doesn't become the indicator as it does on the 6 Series GC.

We don't have the orange sidelights in Europe.

We do if you spec LED adaptives on pre LCI 3, 4, 5 and 6 series. They don't use the indicator but do have an orange LED marker.

Pretty sure he means the actual indicators Teaston and notthe US Orange reflectors (that everyone seems to paint body colour) that I think you're referring to?

Oddly the 4 series LEDs got orange side markers, the 5 series gets them as does the 6 series and the M3, but the 3 series missed out in the UK. The European ones get it though, I think it's a RHD/LHD thing for some odd reason.

Yes they are called Side Marking Lights and there are three Orange LEDs illuminated all the time.

Just read the manual.

Just read the manual.
Take a photo of them on your car.

Then we can settle it.

Apologies for the delay, I've been working over the weekend.

Poor quality taken on my mobile.

Does anyone have a picture of the actual light patten projected from the standard LED lights vs adaptive LED lights?

After 36k miles with adaptive Xenons, I can say that in my opinion the new adaptive LEDs are much better.

The light is brighter and whiter than xenon, a pleasure to drive with and a classy feel.

The spread of light seems more even, and without the brighter and darker patches I had with xenon.

They seem to throw about as far as the Xenons did - maybe not quite with main beam, as they don't light so high up. More than enough though.

The adaptive function seems quicker and more reliable than the Xenons.

Managed to avoid a black cat on the motorway tonight, pretty sure I wouldn't have spotted it with halogen.

LED's now standard on M Sport 335d, weren't a month ago when I first started looking. Now speccing my 335d and adaptive has gone on and off - would love it, but so many other options are taking price up to £48k list so far….

Yep, mine hit £50k list - the massive discount helped with that though. Have to say, the light are one of my fav options.
