I've developed 2 rattle noises, which started when the weather turned cold.
It's more moderate as it's warming up, but when it's cold in the morning the rattles are there.

The loudest is the rattle around the glove box area.
The quieter one is around the center of the dash sort of behind the area where the radio is.

It's not too bad with the audio volume turned up, but when it's really cold I have to turn the audio up fairly loud to drown it out.
I'll have the dealer look at it when I take it in to get the steering clunk fixed.

This is the quirkiest BMW I've had, 3rd one.

And be prepared to hear that they cannot replicate it. I've taken my 2012 F30 with 4k miles in three times for phantom squeaks and the dealer has had it at least one week each time. The latest attempt they fiddled with some lube with the door panel in efforts to fix something they could not replicate.

Hopefully your results are better

Idrive mount? Are you referring to the Nav screen or the actually CIC unit? I'm going to give this a try on my own. Last time I bought my car to the dealer, they left a nice ding on my fender.

Any more squeaky rattle? Did the felt do the trick?

Also to clarify, the dealership tech's notes on the invoice say:
...removed center dash wood trim, removed the Idrive screen. Applied foam tape to rear guide tabs of the Idrive screen. Applied felt tape to under side of dash where the back of the center vents rest.

Has anyone felt taped the HVAC panel? That's the panel that houses the entire CD/HVAC control area...I think that might be the suspect area.

The HVAC blower motor is not it...it was replaced and things still squeak.

After driving about 100 miles, I only experienced one noise instance with moderate acceleration, so I'm happy to say it's insignificant to me now. I'm satisfied, doesn't bother me anymore.

Not to be a Debbie-Downer, but I've been in that position. Seems ok.. slight noise still.. then two weeks later i'm climbing the walls..

Seriously though, I hope it stays that way for you!

The ticking/rattle is the exact same for me. I don't have the "chirp" though...

My car is still at the dealer. They called yesterday and said they found some rattling panel that they've taped. I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I should have it back today and I'll report.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying driving my wife's Honda CR-V which is serene with no rattles and squeeks unlike my $60k BMW... LOL

Hello from Brazil! Iīm new to this, so donīt really know if this is the right place to post... Anyhow, I have what appears to be the very same squeaky noise coming from the middle of my 2012/2013 320i dashboard. The noise, that I noticed on day one, seems to come from under the screen, near the double center vent... I already took the whole thing apart, used a torx tool to tighten up the screws that hold the a/c-stereo unit and... nothing... the noise is still there... and we have some very lousy roads down here in Brazil...

Did you try applying felt tape to the area that HOLDS the a/c stereo unit? The rubbing against that is what's causing the noise...

I actually do have the same issue...not significantly loud as yours. I thought the noise is coming from somewhere below the steering, no?

If I have to suffer, then you should too. Here is the noise for your listening pleasure:

Ok, so it seems they've fixed the rattle that has been driving me nuts. Granted I haven't driven it *that* much yet.

According to the dealer, they foam taped the trim around the cic. No more annoying rattle.
