Aj , i was able to order and the guys at USR gave me 10% discount code to use when i mentioned Forum post .

Post was quick and lights look great but they have just been sitting in my study awaiting install . I will also be changing all Bulbs to Philips diamond vision h7's . hopefully it will all come together nicely and i will post pics.

Fantastic mate

Waiting for the pics then!

Can you let me know in the interim on what additional components you had to buy:
- Bulbs (HIDs? Model no./link to purchase? whether 4K/5K?
- Any emulators/CAN modules? (rem reading some posts couple months back that these might be needed to supplement the install..)

Cheers,
AJ

No additional components required if you are sticking with halogens . I would just replace them with Philips diamonds which are 12v 55w and 5000K in colour , i rarely drive during night time . If you are interested in HID's then i would suggest to look at the other USR thread and a youtube channel called Kies motorsport , he also has the tutorial to install these lights and some troubleshooting steps

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcX...J8fPA2P09lcG2w

I have yet to install them but watch this space i will post pic's and maybe a video.

Cheers

Excellent thanks - they are sold out, but I'll check back regularly to see if they restock. Very keen to see how they look once installed!

After a sports exhaust next...I am surprised at how quiet it is. I have a 125i as well and you can hear the snorts and farts on the gear changes in that really nicely. But in the F30, barely a peep. Must remedy that

Everything works , i could have done a HID upgrade with it but i choose Philips Diamond visions 5000K's .

No error Codes or anything like that .

in the other thread everyone is suggesting Morimotto's HID kit.

How do the Philips DVs match the rings? Any clear pics of front end with low beams on? I know it's hard to take pic of.
Also how's the visibility at night? The low and high beam is from the same projector, correct? Does this limit the visibility for low beams?

Okay for me but not a huge improvement from Halogens just Looks, unless you go the HID route which is only $250 (DTM or morimoto) .

you have to bare in mind the Std. halogens are not that great anyways .

Outer for Low and inner for High auto headlight assist is working as well .

Perfect, thanks. Yeah I just want to avoid the coding and drilling to feed the wires through.

How do the Philips DVs match the rings in your current setup?

its perfect match as the color is 5000K for both , I asked USR what color temp is the LED so these match perfectly . I will ask a pro in another forum if he can take couple of pics when we are on cruise .

Hey Chet, great job with the retrofit! Ill save more compliments until you post some fancy pics of the complete install and beam pattern!

Btw, I just ordered my Depo lights from USR, will get them next week and put them on. I went with HIDs for the main beam (https://www.hids4u.co.uk/H7-HIDS4U-S...rsion-Kit.html) owing to the seemingly good response from people on the UK F30 angel eyes thread. Quality wise, these are as good as Morimoto it seems, have a 2 year warranty and have compact AC ballasts (supposedly better than DC just like OEMs) ...Total plug and play with no errors with included Canbus is what they claim...

Also ordered CREE LED fog lamps which may need Cold/Warm checks coded out (doing some more reading into this as folks in coding section have resolved this issue)

I intend to use the Depo supplied halogen (lo beam) for the inner housing as Hi's as most people have pointed out that they use highs only for flashing given the light output with HIDs in Depos is so good. You think the Depo halogens can be used in hi beam socket?

Also any tips/pitfalls during installation/beam cut-off adjustment?

Hi aj,

Good to hear that you are doing this , Good luck .

some of the Nuts have Perma Lock tight be careful with those as they will take most time.

Its pretty straight forward , the Tabs at the top will allow adjustment for Low beams . as for the high beams i have yet to adjust mine and yes they will take stock halogens i have them too .

I replaced the Fog lights as well with Philips diamond vision just to keep it same and after that i felt that they filled the light gap i was having .

I would love to see the difference between halogens and HID's . I will post some Pics today or tomorrow .

Difference between BMW (depo+H7) and my GTI (Xenon) is very noticeable , i would prefer to be as close as possible so going to HID's would be next step for me .

you will find that its easy to adjust the Beam after install . couple of you tube vids for reference :

Can't wait to install mine, got the Delos only waiting on the HIDs now ...

Will get in touch if needed for help.. question: some have said that removing both front tires made life easy for this retrofit. Whats your take on it?

it is a good idea as you dont have to turn the wheels when accessing things .

If you have proper jacks do it for extra room and for those stubborn screws with Locktight on them .

Hey Chet,
if you were to go HID route, would you take off the bumper again or just install the HIDs as is by accessing it from beneath? I had planned the install tomorrow but my HIDs haven't come in yet so wondering if I should still go ahead install the Depos or wait for HID bulbs to come in so that I can pre-install them.

Cheers mate...

I think from memory you can access the Cap behind the light without taking out the bumper.

I would suggest that you do that in one hit rather than putting it off . I Kick myself for not doing it .

Hello Everyone,

Finally managed to complete the retrofit. Some pictures for reference.

What can I say, these light have completely transformed the looks of the car and I dont have to drive with the yellow candles in my headlamps anymore...

My beam pattern seems to be consistent with some other members (dip in the middle) on the UK forum.

P.S: chet82 , thanks for your help with the suggestions!
