I think it took them almost a year to get the 2015 models in the configurator. It blows me away that the BMW Canada team can't do the most basic things.

Maybe Canadians are a bit more practical. It's 2015, why would anyone sell a 2016 car? What's the point of a year model then? Probably show up in October or November, which is dumb but less dumb than showing up in September. |

That sounds stupid too but the reason there are no 2016 cars on the BMW Canada web site is because there are no 2016s on any maker's web site for Canada. I smell government regulation.

Some local dealerships have already created their own configurators based on 2016 model packages. If you really want to know what is available you can try: http://www.autowestbmw.com/build-and-price/?make=BMW I can confirm the package and pricing information are correct and corresponds with the order guides. |

BMW is the company choosing to launch 2016 models in 2015. If you go to a dealer today and order a new 3 series, it will be a 2016 model since 2015s ceased production about two months ago or more.
BMW are then failing to update their website, so that the models that users can build aren't ones they can actually order from a dealer any more. It's got nothing to do with Canadians being more practical; it's BMW being lazy and incompetent. Other manufacturers don't have 2016 models on their sites generally because, unlike BMW, their model years correspond more closely to the calendar year. Quote:

When I purchased my 2016, the sales rep literally tried to offer me a 2015 three times before he realized that I did my research and I know my stuff.
It's true to the fact that the dealers really need to move their 2015 inventory before even trying to sell the 2016. I haven't even seen a single dealership in Toronto that has a 2016 in their showroom. I had to look at the ordering guide by myself online to figure out what I wanted as there were no brochures, no promotions and no push for the 2016 models at all.
