Bumper scratch fix?

Hi all, I've just returned from my very unpleasant drive. I accidentally scraped my bumper at the shopping centre. Not only is the paint gone, a chunk of the bumper material is scraped off as well. Thankfully, due to the size and location of the defect, I can simply install a front splitter to hide it, however, should I coat it to prevent further stripping of the paint or even rust??? And out of curiosity, if I decide to spot repair it, how much would it usually be?

Yep thought so haha.

I most likely will go ahead and hide it with the front splitter. But before going that route, I'd like to correct the paint as much as possible. Has anyone tried the genuine touch-up paint kit?Name: s-l1600.jpg

I've used the OEM touch up paint and would recommend it. It matched EBII really well, better than I thought it would. It's expensive but if you want a good repair, you'll need to pay for it. Plus it'll help for other dings down the road.

As for the clear coat, you'll need to buff it to have a smooth finish with the original paint (get rid of the high spots) because it dried on thicker than the base colour.

To be honest though, if you plan on slapping a lip on it, you shouldn't bother touching it up unless you plan on getting the lip in a few months. You'd also need to smooth that area out with a filler first before painting for a proper repair.

Btw, I wouldn't worry about stripping more paint, the paint is very well adhered to the plastic from factory.

Thank you for your input DrifterX I've gotten a quote of $230 AUD for the touch up from a mobile touch up repairer. Their work seems professional and I might arrange the repair in the upcoming weeks. After that, I'll look into a front lip, for now, I need to satisfy my OCDness.
