On the rolling start thing, I'm on Michelin xIce 3 winter tyres right now which howl if I give them anything close to full throttle. I can actually activate traction control at 60 mph in 4th or 5th gear on the highway if I floor it so I'm basically barely touching the throttle during normal driving. Never expected the xIce 3s to be so lacking in grip.
My lowly 328 on 235mm Dunlop Sport M3s can activate the traction light at 60mph into 4th. I put down 260ft lbs to the wheels pre tune, not even 10% less than an N55.

But I would spend good time with a 328 before choosing it over a 335.

Thanks. Good advice. I'll do a few more test drives. I'm in no hurry at the moment to replace my 335i.

Did anyone else go from an N55 E90 to an N20 F30? I should mention that I have had the N55 for less than 6 months. Prior to that I had an N52 E90 6MT and in my opinion that was a nicer (smoother and more responsive) engine than the N55. There was more opportunity to wind it out too.

N52 E90 6MT.. that would be the 328 right? I had 2 of those.. 2008 6MT sport and 2011 6AT non sport. I wouldn't got back to the non turbo 230hp. Not enough power!!

Anyone come from an E60? How do they compare to the new F30? The e60 was too big for my needs, the F10 way too big and e90 is too small. The f30 looks like the perfect sized car.

But the e60 was the best drive. Hopefully my blind buy of a f30 this week was the right choice. There were no E91 wagon CPO that met my wish list so it was an easier decision to get the f30.

Hey Focal, where´s your point??....

I would say the F30 is about the same size as the E39, not much smaller than the E60 on the exterior. I have a friend that´s got an E61 and with baby seats behind the passenger seats I have just a tad bit more room in front.

Point is more driving comparisons from e60 to f30. Blindly signed for a new f30 this week. I am curious on the improvement in ride/handling/steering.

Size is a non factor. F30 seems like the perfect sized car now with only one kid (5yrs). Would have just liked to save money with a CPO wagon if a manual could have been found

hahaha...yes, I forget. I was too focused on my comments.

Focal is for speakers I love. Just a handle I have used over the years.

I know that a new f30 even though it's a bit softer than the E90 should still be better than a E60...in theory.

thanks for the feedback
