Interesting, but you've had to now cut into the bottom air intake grille to make space for that plate holder. Seems the original poster didn't want to do anything to the car?

Another option for front bracket.

The Welt was leaning in this direction as well until they read that I'd be keeping the car in Germany for a few years. At that point, they suggested screwing it in.

I liked however, that when discussing it with me, they not only brought up the bit about the tape, but correctly pointed out that the widely space screws for the Euro plate would show when I eventually took the car back to the states, and mounted the euro plate with screws placed much more closely together, so when the U.S. plate eventually when on, it would cover up the old holes.

Little attentions to detail I quite enjoyed. =)

I would actually put it all the way on the bottom so the plate would be completely under the bumper

Im sure the cops will leave you alone if you taped one there. The bigger issue is if your plate blew off while you're going 80 on the freeway and ended up hitting another car. Now that car has a plate easily traced to you with some dried up double sided tape on the back. Wouldn't take a genius to sue you for that.

when they delivered my car it came with this plastic bracket that latches under the plate into the bumper, you can actually feel the holes around that area, it took 2 min to put it up and once you see it in person its not that bad at all, I live in NIles and if you are around I could show it to you

I didn't quite understand. So you used the plastic bracket which came along with the car and you mounted that without drilling holes?
I live in Edgewater, and frequently drive to Skokie as I have family there. We could meet up in the weekend after if you don't mind, as I am heading out of town for the new year's.

I drilled two wholes to attach the bracket to the car, just check under where the license plate would be and you will see the holes that i was talking about, this weekend im going to be downtown

There is ZERO chance of me putting on a front plate. I park in a garage at work and so I'll take my chances the rest of the time. I'll just keep paying the fines & figure there wont be that many during a three year lease.

I always mount my plates with automotive adhesive tape -- creates a really nice clean installation and very tightly installed with no rattles or visible screws.

I always opt for euro style plates with no surround for the cleanest look.

With automotive tape there is no way they are going to come off in one piece though. It's the same stuff they use for mounting some body kit.

i used the heavy duty suction cups to hold the plate tightly. It will not fly around in accident. Cop didn't mention anything when he saw this, either.
