Water intrusion

I had noticed damp carpet in the left rear footwell of my May '12 build 328 after washing it a few weeks ago. It wasn't a large area...mainly in the corner of the footwell closest to the door. Not sure if I had unknowingly dripped water there myself, I waited to see if the next wash led to the same. It did. I'm hopeful the fix is to have the weather strip replaced. However, there is no obvious damage or breach. I hate to think the water is coming in from a higher up spot. All other likely paths feel dry...nothing noticeable in the headliner...no evidence of water entering from the window. The plastic trim piece on the door sill shows signs of water entry at the sill. The right sill area was bone dry. Time for a dealer visit.

Yes I did. The dealer advised the plastic liner inside the door panel was torn. It was replaced under warranty and solved the water problem.

I just realized the same thing on my 2013. It took three days of hard rain for me to realize I wasn't crazy with water entering my car. How long did the repair take, less than a day?

Less than a day...it's been awhile, but I remember leaving the car in the morning and it was ready to pick up early afternoon.

It's the vapor barrier. I had the same issue with my 07 335. You can test it by opening the door, pouring water into the drains between the window and door. Then wait for it to drain. If you see it coming out between the door panel and door, you have an issue with the vapor barrier.

Was the vapor barrier in my case. Removed the door panel and reheated the adhesive and it seems fine for now(still sunny )
