My 335d has bigger boot than a Golf R!

Looking at spec sheets, apparently the Golf has 380 litres space in the boot, whereas the F31 has 495 litres. So that means the 3 series is 30% better than the Golf?...

Slight steer towards our cars, I wonder what the differences in engine spec there are between a 335d and a 330d.
I mean, could you fit a new turbo to a 330d and you have the uprated engine?
I've had a quick Google without success.

Would that make it 50% better? Or, as it would be the smaller turbo, ~30% better, like Tengocity's 30% more boot space.

BTW, fit a tri-turbo setup and make it a 350d.

The 1 series only has 360 litres (which it should really be compared with!), so the Golf is bigger.

You'll spoil the topic, too logical comparing 'apples with apples'.

Of course the 3 has a bigger boot.

Or, in Lorcans case, a schnitzer salesman........

For me the Golf R is a boring bland car from the front/sides/above/upside down.... and the back looks like it was given to a boy racer to design. Who promptly ran off to Ripspeed and stuck as many cheap chrome exhaust pipes on as he could for the £10 budget he was given.

The interior also sucks, again VW going with the bland and boring theme. For me if i wanted a fast car for the road and track it would be a Subaru which would piss all over the R and looks miles better and is cheaper.

The car may well be fast but when i move jobs in 3-6 mths i will be needing to swap the 330d for a petrol as i will only be doing around 50miles a week. I have looked at the R but to be honest the only thing i liked is that you can have it in red paint.

I am looking at either a 335i or the brilliant M235i possibly the AMG A45 or the CLA but not sure it they are a little small and over priced.

The M235i looks really nice but comes with no options so i would need to see if i could get a deal on one as with options it costs the same as a 335i.

i may get a MZ4 with is miles more fun than the R but is a little too small.

The Golf R boot is even smaller than the rest of the Golf range (380 litres) due to the 4WD system.
It is 343 litres. But remember it has a spare wheel in it.

Wow! So what you're saying is that the 3 series is in fact 44% better than the Golf R? The difference is so big that one might suggest that these cars are somewhat incomparable!
