I think the big issue is finding someone who is liquid enough to buy this car cash. That is why the dealer will end up being able to get more for it. I don't think I can wait any longer. I have been waiting over two months for this car. Musttttt.....Drive.....First....M....Car. |

Congrats on the move up to the m3! I'll hopefully be doing the same next fall. Either an m3 or an m2 csl if it comes to fruition.

This.
Asking $47k is a joke. Seller is not realistic or, mostly likely, does not understand how used cars work. Aftermarket accessories are always worthless when selling cars years later. The car should sell for marginally more than 'regular' 335i's of that model year and mileage. But that's all. What the dealership offered is what you can expect. But then again trading in a car after 3 years is financially the worst thing one can do. This is not news. For every person that does this or leases cars every 2-3 years and sucker who buys 'CPO' (abused) cars years later the car manufacturers make a killing off of them. The rest of us should be very happy as it keeps the cash flowing to our favourite car manufacturers. HMR. Quote:

Not sure I agree with this assesment. Here is a similarly equipped 2014, for which the dealer wants $54k!!! And it has more Kilometers.
In fact doing a search of BMW site for 335 X-drives from 2014 with less than 60000km shows a price range of $48k to $54k $47k for this car is not a joke. It may not be a fantastic deal. But it is nto a joke either.... http://crm.bmw.ca/en-ca/PreOwned/Sea...30#details-top Quote:

the asking of $47K is including a set of OEM winter tires & wheels, which would be worth around $2K or so. |

Good point. I forgot about that one! I think that just about tips it into the "good deal" category for me.

I just sold last week my great condition 2009 Acura MDX with 88,000 km on Craigslist. Blackbook was $16,500 to $19,000 and I was pretty happy the dealer offered me $20,000 (after tax savings the equivalent of selling privately for $22,400).
I placed an ad on Craigslist for $24,000 and got a decent response. I ended up selling within a few days to a super nice family for $22,800. I filled the gas tank up and bought them some touch up paint so I ended up netting about $300 more than trading in to the dealer. I probably could have sold for a bit more but didn't want to waste any time dealing with tire kickers. The bottom line is you may be able to net $500 to $2,000 more selling privately but that is assuming you are in no hurry to sell and don't mind dealing with tire kickers. Another tip is by pricing it right and placing as many clear pictures as you can in your ad and having a very detailed description and vehicle history in your ad you will minimize the amount of tire kickers and time wasters. |
