Winter Rims and Tires - Toronto
Hi Folks,
Just got a 440 yesterday and since it comes with 19" perf wheels I'm gonna have to get some winter wheels. Anyone know a reputable brand / wheel shop that carries replica or just nice (cheap but good, lol) wheels (18") here in Toronto? I know they're just winter wheels but I still want the car to look somewhat nice. |

Simply Tire is definitely an option that I would recommend for you to check out. They should have what you're looking for.

I got my Vorsteiner VFF-101 reps and Blizzak WS80 tires from SimplyTire in North York.
Got my mom's wheels and Blizzak DM tires for her Touareg from CEO Tire in Scarborough. They had the same variety as SimplyTire which is a much bigger store and had a 437M rep wheel which was really nice, not the black with machined face that don't look great IMO. These ones had a gunmetal gray matte finish with a machined face - I was so sad to see them because I had already bought mine! CEO Tire had better prices and service (sales and shop) because SimplyTire is way too busy all the time. There are a lot of shops that can get reps, just make sure they're either flow-formed/forged (stronger and higher price) or at the very least, low pressure casted wheels.

Simply Tire is about to run their annual early bird winter group buy. Once they get busy in early October, they will NOT answer emails and hardly taking phone calls. Therefore, you will have to act quickly in September. The place is like a zoo between October and December.

I need a set too!
Does anybody know when Simply Tires will begin taking orders for the group buy? Sorry, I'm still new here... from my research, I've seen them post on Redflagdeals but will it be posted here on bimmerpost as well? I just joined BMW True North recently and believe they will post on FB but just wanted to confirm as I don't want to miss the sale. Thank you! |

Definitely recommend Simply Tire. They did my summer setup for me and I shopped it around a lot without finding a better deal.

Thanks everyone for posting. I am new here, returning to BMW after a 4-year VW fiasco..
I am in GTA, looking for 18" , will check SimplyTire for rims and tires. Also ZRacing in Mississauga (Derry and Dixie area) has winter packages for BMW . They have a decent website and also very active on Kijiji . They carry Michelin, Pirelli, and Goodyear Checked Costco last night, good prices too Cheers |

Lots of great info, thanks all that replied.
Would you guys recommend Studless Ice and Snow or Performance Winters for Toronto(GTA) winters? Runflat or is Regular good enough and better for winters? Below is a list of tires I've found through my research with good reviews but this is from all over the world, has anybody tried any of them in Toronto? Any specific tire recommendation? Studless Ice & Snow BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS80 MICHELIN X-ICE XI3 Performance Winter BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK LM001 PIRELLI WINTER SOTTOZERO 2 PIRELLI WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 |

With that said, on previous cars I used blizzak ws80s and they're a bit better than lm series... I believe the compound is softer. Only reason I opted for performance winter tires because I'm using my oem staggered 19s for winter (have oem 20s for summer) and I could only have performance winters in 255s for the rear. If you're buying a new set, get squared setup with blizzak ws80s. If you want staggered performance winters, I'm enjoying my lm series And for run flat or non run flat... Get non run flat and buy an inflator kit on amazon |

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0036E...+tire+inflator Inflator only. Does the job and rather quickly too. You can buy cheaper or more expensive. You can also go for a kit that does air or foam. But to my understanding the foam expires after a year and if you use the foam, the tire is garbage after. My thought process is, most flats are slow leaks so air alone does the job. Since I'm usually within my city, if I ever had a serious flat I'd have to get a family or friend bring me one of my summer or winter tires depending the season. I rather wait for that delivery than pay for a tow or new tire |

I'll probably stay away from replicas, that being said, I'm basically torn between 2 setups listed below, mind you the OEM 405 would cost 400-500 more. Which would you guys choose? OEM BMW 405M Black 18" Squared w/Pirelli® W240 Sottozero II RSC Run-flat Tires 225/45 R18 95V XL BBS SR 18" Squared w/BlizzakWS80 or maybe even Michelin XI-3/Pirelli Sottozero 3? Sorry if I sort of high jacked your post Poncho but I really didn't want to repost on a very similar almost identical topic. |

For tires I'd go with Michelin or Bridgestone. My X-ice 3 are way more sure-footed than my dad's Sottozero. |

I'm debating on replica BBS SR wheels or OEM 415's which I found a pretty good deal on. Now it's just a question of what tires too. I ran non-runflats on my Z4 years ago and what a difference they made (for the better). I just carried around a foam + compressor unit but thankfully, never had to use the foam. Actually, I still carry around that unit to this day just in case (foam is useless now though). Anyone have opinions on GTS wheels? Or should I just get the OEM 415's? The OEM 415's I can get for $1000 + say $1000 for tires (Blizzak WS80 or Michelin X-ice) = $2000ish The GTS wheels - well, simply tire has packages and for either the Blizzak's or the Michelins = $2000ish. actually, in reading this, I'm thinking of just going with the OEMs. I figure they will be easier to sell too? Yay? Nay? Last edited by Poncho38; 09-19-2017 at 09:27 PM.. |

OEM always, I have seen to many bent rims. Also ensure the tire rotation speed is equal on all 4 axles to avoid any transfer case issues. Lastly avoid anything that has to go in that can void warranty.
