When Diesel is better than Petrol

When you need a decent lawn tractor diesel wins hands down, just got a new Kubota and it's pretty awesome when compared to the usual petrol powered air cooled engines made by Briggs & Stratton etc

13.5 bhp and it mulches so there is not really any cuttings, no plans to tune it though....

This will turn into a torque and/or economy thread.

Even better if you are running on 'red' diesel.

Nice mower. My sister runs a John Deere.

Can get red from the farmer up the road but got sick of asking if I could have some all the time.

Looked at John Deere but was told they are not great if you need to make a warranty claim. Kubota seem to really hold their value more than most so it made sense.

We've a tank on site, as there is a lot of other kit to run on the croft/estate. The Kubota 80HP tractor and mower is in a different league. The John Deere just does the grass around the homes.

80HP....... Proper tractor

The guy who delivered it was saying they sell £250K combine harvesters on a regular basis, makes my little tractor look like a model toy.

Like the Kubota!

I seem to have this all wrong - diesel car and petrol tractor

Briggs & Stratton used to be a decent enough brand, before they started lending their name to cheap Chinese engines. We have a similar power Honda petrol-engined tractor. It’s now in its 14th year and the engine has needed nothing other than routine servicing. It will probably run until it’s at least 20 years old. I wouldn’t go near a Honda car, but we have 3 Honda-engined bits of lawn equipment.
