F30 Audio Upgrade Question: Tweeters

Hi guys,

I've been researching the forums for information on how to upgrade my 2014 320i Hi-Fi system, which sucks (My 2008 Golf sound is 10 times better!).

So, I'm leaning towards Technic's recomendation for harness and JL XD600/6 amp. And considering Bavsound to replace the stock speakers.

My question is (forgive my ingnorance) about the tweeters: Where are the tweeters located?

In my Golf they are inside the window frame, inner corner of the exterior mirror assembly. But my BMW doesn't have any grilles or little speakers there...

Does it mean that I don't have tweeters?
Or, are they located somwhere else?

I have a 335i with the base sound system. I added a good amp and sub by kicker L7. Amazing sound and forget about changing the speakers, add a sub and you'll be just fine

The tweeters are in the corner, the same place as your Golf. If you don't have any then you may have the 6 speaker system. In the US, all the 2014s come with the tweeters.

Any recommendation on where to purchase cheapest BavSound setup (other than Dinan)?

Your system is Stereo (BMW name). My harness + XD600/6 is for the HiFi system.

Thank you for your reply Technic. So, given that my equipment is the basic-basic, is it still possible to upgrade to the amp you recommend... or IŽm stuck??

Would you have a harness suitable for upgrading my system?

Thanks!

Thank you Technic for the link !

Tmar has done a lot of work: Removed the head unit, wiring and adding two pieces of equipment.

Is there a more direct, "plug and play" option for upgrading just the base amp? Kind off what you showed for the Hi-Fi system, without having to remove stuff from the dashboard and do any wiring...?

PS: Just checked the trunk and I have an empty space where the Hi-Fi amp goes. Is that why IŽll need to run a harness from the front to the back, so I can connect the new amp?

Understood. I'm not an audio expert and I'm trying to understand what are my options given that I have the non-Hi-Fi equipment...
There's a lot of detailed info on the forums about upgrading the Hi-Fi, not so much for the base stereo.

I get that you are not an audio expert however a link was provided above with one of the several Stereo installs in this forum so you can have an idea of what your system requires for an upgrade.

It is OK if you do not understand how to upgrade your system. What that really means is that you require local professional install.
