It took me about 10 minutes to find the heated steering wheel button... so for those reading this, or finding it via Google Search - it's located on the left side of the column near the adjusting lever. It has a little light that turns on when the wheel is being heated, but it is generally obstructed by the wheel itself so you have to look for it. Stupid design, IMO.

Not sure what you mean? I don't know where the setting is in iDrive to disable it but you don't do anything to engage it while it's enabled.

I dislike that I have to peak around the steering wheel while driving to see if it's still on or not.

Agreed. The only two ergonomic fails in the F30 for me are: placement of heated steering wheel button, and the automatic windshield wiper light is obstructed by the steering wheel.

Not a problem. Many other cars have had this feature for years. They just use different names for it.

Speed warning. Setup under idrive and it lets you know with a beep and indicator light if you exceed the set speed. I set it at 90mph and thought I would never get there(limit is 65mph). Hit it twice on the commute to work this morning without meaning to. The 335 is an amazing car!

My speed warning is set at 85, though by the time I hear the warning and let go of the pedal, I would have often crossed 88-90.

I noticed that the HUD speed display has a lag. Try this: accelerate hard, keep noticing the speed on HUD. Then leave the pedal. For just a short moment after you have left the pedal the speed on the HUD will still go up( sometimes as much as 6-8mph).

So I have learnt to keep this in my mind while accelerating hard and when I would like to not exceed a particular speed.

This is almost what I do to "comfort" access my trunk:
1. Stand one foot away from the trunk.
2. You should not be dead center, instead Make sure your right foot is dead center, which means you are about 12" or so to the left from the center.
3. Stand in a military attention position for 2 seconds. Take a deep breath.
4. Start moving your right foot forward at about 2.5 mph till at least 80% of you foot is vertically invisible hidden by the trunk as seen from top. Since you will be standing about a foot behind the car, take precautions to avoid parallax errors in you judgement for determining the 80%.
5. Retract your foot bringing you back to attention position "as soon as" your foot covered the 80% mark in step 4. Retraction velocity should be 2.5 mph.
6. Wait for about a second and you should notice the tail lights blink and the trunk opens. Congratulations!! If not, repeat steps 1-6 or try variation 1.

Variation 1: In case you are with friends or if people are watching you and you want to save yourself embarrassment in case of failure try this variation to the above steps:
1. In step 3 above instead of standing in attention, stand with your left hand inside your left pant pocket, holding your BMW key, finger on the trunk open button.
2. Continue with steps 4-6.
3. If step 6 fails, long press the trunk open button without causing apparent external movement of your hand inside your pocket.
4. The trunk will open.

Variation to variation 1:
In case you got your car reprogrammed for ASS last user mode, you could perhaps also use the panic button instead of the trunk open button on your key fob

Just like the dial gauge speedometer and tach.

This is typical and the result of the damping built into the gauges. It is amusing this characteristic of physical analog gauges has been transferred to digital.

Pretty sure the doors in the front have slots for wine bottles, 1 per side. Haven't tested, but the size looks correct.

That probably sums up the differences between California and New Jersey...

Does anyone know if there is a way to display a volume meter when turning up/down the volume knob? For example, on every car I've ever owned, there has been some way to tell just how close I am coming to maximum volume when cranking my stereo. I have found no such indicator in my F30 328i. I have the HK stereo and would sure like to know how much further I can take the volume before hitting its limit.

Unfortunately there is no manner to display relative volumes in BMWs. One of my pet peeves.
